I remember these commercials. Apart from the one dark part you mentioned, the Noid being tied to their 30 minute guarantee also landed the company in a lot of trouble, endangering the lives of the delivery drivers and those around them by almost forcing them to drive recklessly. I remember renting the NES game bank in the day. Apparently it was just a very lazily re-skinned version of a Japanese game, with only a few sprite swaps.
