In Australia, tipping is not customary. But having tried my hand as a food courier, the amount of effort to do that for whst is paid is insane. Our mimmim wage her is just over $21 per hour for an adult. On some days after taking out the cost to run and maintain my vehicle, I barely made 6$ an hr. Australia is an expensive place to live and that is NOWHERE near enough to live on. Thankfully I was using it as a little income hustle. But I was doing more hustling than I was earning any more income. For many, this is their whole source of income. In Australia, we should be tipping. Especially in the rich cities lik3 Sydney and melbourne where rent and cost of living is astronomical. If you're rich enough to have someone make you food and wash your plates, you need to pay for it as a tip. It has definitely changed the way I view the people who work in hospitality.

Why not go out and get a job at $16.00 hour X 40 hours = $640.00 a week or $33,280.00 a year guaranteed income. @@phillipstroll7385BS they’ll go out of business. I know plenty of owners where I live and other parts of the states that are making a killing! Huge houses, fancy cars, more than one restaurant. God bless them. They’ll never give it up because it benefits both of them the owner and the waiter. The owners make a huge profit on a meal. The waiter is like a subcontractor, paying for nothing but making a percentage on top of the meal you paid for! It’s a scam. Restaurant owners should pay the minimum wage or more depending on the restaurant if it’s high end.owners love the huge profit and waiters love the quick cash for doing nothing but bringing you your food.

This is why financial literacy is critical. People think that their job pays X amount, so they'll get X amount. No, when you apply for a job you must put into account the tax mans cut state/federal, health-insurance etc. Parents these days teach their kids with the mentality of "you keep what you make". No, Freedom isn't free. Where do you think the money comes from when we ship Billions of dollars of weapons into the middle-east. Please live in reality and find a better job that will allow you to live the way you want to live. Once people do that the restaurant industry will wise up and pay their employees a living wage.

well no tipping means higher prices on each dish you order. you still end up paying for service, in the form of a fixed higher price, probably a 20% increase. or did you think restaurant owners are just gonna carve out 20% from their revenue/profit and use that to pay the servers? in your day dream maybe. except now servers arent incentivized to please you in hopes to earn s higher tip, and restaurant owners can cheap out and hire less servers that it end up costing less than 20% than what was budgeted. also, look at it this way. there are restaurants in the us that are required by law to pay $16 as minimum base pay, California. whats the result? much high food prices, restaurant workers there do earn a lot more, whats the result? much higher cost of living. just overall inflated everything.
@guaguatengteng
@guaguatengteng Ай бұрын
this video is extremely misleading. you got $9 because all of your tips' tax were deducted from the $2.13/hour base pay, the tips you took home everyday is also what you got paid that you didnt mention here on the video, those tips are still tax liable. the fact that you still have $9 something means your tips weren't high enough that the 2.13 an hour was enough to cover your taxes. there are people who still owe taxes because their tip income is so high, tax on the tips is higher than 2.13/hour. so, work harder, earn more tips, get a negative pay check, and be happy.

Funny how 1 you ignore the fact that if you don't make enough tips to cover minimum wage the employer must bump your pay to match minimum wage. 2 youa re working for the customer not the restaurant. 3 and most importantly, ifyou told most tip workers ok no more tips you get 20 an hour they would revolt because they make way more than that.
@AngusAngus

1. and 3. are diametrically opposed 2. minimum wage is federally (and here in Texas) $7.25 an hour aka a slap in the face for someone with a rent check. 3. I do IT Help Desk from home so therefore I am also "working for the customer" but funny how I get paid from someone who has known and trusted me for over two years rather than somebody in a bad mood who decided they didn't feel like paying for their table service.

@@xdinteractive you know the whole world is urbanizing and jobs are disappearing in small towns. Being a crybaby for those who are being left behind is absolutely the thing to do; the companies and politicians certainly proved they don't care about them and My father had debilitating brain cancer and my mom's father had an aneurysm that took him from being a CIA agent with 10 languages fluent to needing government assistance. Be glad your family didn't have any life-changing situations but these things were neither of their faults and government literally exists to help those in danger of losing their housing etc.
