My parents both grew up in a third world country, it's where they met and got married. They would eventually have three kids (me being the youngest). Wanting nothing but the best for the three of us, my parents both worked their butts off just grinding away night and day, overtime after overtime putting all that money away saving all until they had enough to leave everything behind and move to a better country a country where their kids would have better education, better future and better opportunities. As soon as they had enough and all the paper work was done, in 1988 our family packed our things and moved to Jane and Finch, it's been down hill ever since.

And of course you (being Black) blame others for your failure. I o. The other hand from the same place (but from Asian background), has 2 Masters degrees.
@bobbydigital8243
@bobbydigital8243 4 жыл бұрын
@@elizabethk3238 It was our family as whole who failed, failed to leave Jane and Finch from the start instead decided to reside there. It's social stigma has become a reality, I guess when your called something for so long you just start playing the part. Today Jane and Finch is nothing but an sad memory to me. By the way where in my story did I say that I blamed others, and who said that we were a bunch of failures? If you'd really like to know what happened to us, as of today we have left that place decades ago, but only three of us made it out. Me my mom and oldest sibling who is left. The The two didn't make it out, one from suicide due to depression the other homicide from gang violence. I barely barely get to see any of my family anymore until Christmas, though we talk on the phone. My mom currently lives in Barrie and is a certified registered nurse at RVR health care for over 30 years. My oldest sibling is a anesthesiologist at Sunny brook hospital and has a family they live close to Sherway gardens. I am a business owner I've owned four business in my lifetime and have sold all three since, today I operate a business in Maple/Vaughn has been open for over 10 years at the same location, it's where I'm actually writing this comment. I live in Richmond Hill together with my wife and one eight year old girl. I've wasted a good chunk of my time today just to reply back to your comment, that you stated we were just a bunch of failures who blame others. This is was your assumption from reading my first post. Don't be judging people when you don't know their full story, matter fact don't judge people at all, you'd think it be common sense to someone with two masters. For the record we are not black.
@ariadarabi
@ariadarabi 4 жыл бұрын
@@bobbydigital8243 I was about to offer you some help, but reading your second comment, you definitely got this! My story is a bit different; I lived in Port Elgin as a kid. Life was good until my Dad and Mom got in a scruff. My Dad went to jail and the government relocated us to a women's shelter in Scarborough. Lived there for 3 years until they found us an apartment in Birchmount and St. Clair. My Mom worked at Walmart for $7 an hour trying to make ends meet while my Dad was still looking for us. We couldn't afford food or furniture. The women's shelter gave us 1 garbage bag full of canned food and another garbage bag full of toys for my sister and I. We ate 1 can of Chef Boyardee every 2 days. I read a kids' book with Buggs Bunny eating a carrot and I remember completely salivating at the picture of the carrot. The starvation was painful. Because of this, my school life was hard. Didn't have anything for lunch. Only time we'd eat was dinner. Sister is mentally handicapped so I got in a LOT of fist fights trying to protect her from bullies. Because of this, I made many enemies. Some of these enemies had older brothers who were gang members. These kids came to school with police batons and chains so fighting them resulted in a lot of bruises on my body. I got suspended multiple times for fighting and eventually got to the point where they said my violent nature would give grounds to them for expulsion. Thing is, I love peace. I'm a peaceful guy by nature so hearing that kind of set something off inside me. I felt depressed; I was stuck being a person I didn't want to be. At 10 years old, the depression hit really fkin hard. I remembered my Dad's phone number when I was 6 so I thought I'd call the same number and see what happened. I really needed to talk to someone. He ended up picking up and I ended up giving our address. Took me and my sister out of that gang infested shit hole and moved us to Richmond Hill. I was 100% surprised at how friendly all the kids were. It was only then that I realized how bad my situation was in Scarborough. I always thought that's just how life normally was for everyone (most of my friends were also kinda poor but they could afford food at least). Hearing your story kinda brought all this out from me and I'm super happy you guys made it! I know you might still have depression from Jane n Finch but I'm happy to hear you're raising your kid in Richmond Hill. It's a really nice place. Nowadays, the people aren't as friendly as when I lived there (mid 2000's to late 2010's) but it's still not a bad place. Barely any crime other than organized crime.
@bobbydigital8243
@bobbydigital8243 4 жыл бұрын
@@ariadarabi I moved to Richmond Hill 12 years ago because of my business I have now, I'm not sure how safer it was back than but now compared to Jane and Finch it's like night and day. Your story growing up is exactly the same story as my middle sibling story, he was one of those people who looked older than his age since he was born, and like you he would always be the first one to be blamed whenever something bad happened in school or in our neighborhood. Even our cousins wasn't allowed to be talking to him because they thought he was bad influence. As soon he started going to high school that's when everything started getting worse for him. He became friends with all the other bad apples in his age. The older he got the more serious stuff he started getting himself into. I don't wanna go full details but he never made it to see 18 years old. I'm glad that the both of you got out of that place your living in as kids. The ghetto is such a toxic place to be raised in. It messes with your head and turns your priorities up side down and if you over stay your visit it ruins your ability to communicate with the real world. My brothers death is what made me wake up, I promised myself that his death will not come in vain.

I say decriminalize all drugs. Take away the monies allocated to the war on drugs and focus on addiction and mental health treatment. The underground drug economy would collapse overnight, and shootings would drop significantly. I know this is a radical idea, but at this point police make arrest and shootings and killings don't seem to be decreasing in the city.

Norm T therefore drugs wouldn’t be legal, since all addicts would have to go to rehab, meaning people will have to buy them illegally and use them in secret just as they do now, leaving us exactly where we started.

Dream warriors .michie ne never grew up there but was in finch all the time .frankie and dereck danced for mystro fresh wes .ben Johnson lived in jungle and was always in jane and finch and was ny track coach .steve nash great canadian b baller made it possible to get our l.b a court .pressa his father and I are child hood friends .everyone is connected here .that's why it always bothered me why we beefed other .I ended up going to the pen 28 years ago for guns and robbery .but I never ever shot at or harmed anyone from my community.
