After a trilogy of games with THQ and Yuke’s, the UFC made a deal with the devil. I mean, that’s how UFC president Dana White would make it seem. After years and years of publicly burying EA Sports to anyone who would listen, he’d put pen to paper with the sports game giant in mid-2012, guaranteeing the future of Ultimate Fighting Championship video games would not fall out of those championship rankings. Today, we’re going to look at the UFC titles released under EA Sports. The good, the bad, the ugly, and everything in between. I haven't bought a UFC game since Undisputed 3. I haven't bought a wrestling game since 2k17. I don't regret it. The games haven't been great since. UPDATE: So I broke down and got 2k24 and maaaaan its so frustrating. They put in so many good ideas and did them so wrong. Universe mode especially has been done dirty. The ai booking is so wonky and incoherent. The match table which is the best idea Universe mode has ever had actively doesn't work. It just doesn't work. The creation suite is honestly a bit more limited than past titles. Less moves, crowd reaction tied to what entrance you choose rather than what crowd reaction you choose. Gameplay wise There's no technical wrestling. The system only really works for fast paced matches with a more walk and Brawl attitude era style. Especially with chair wrestling gone. This game was not worth the money. It has so many good ideas that are either half baked or is straight up raw and uncooked.

@dogkingify Interesting, I think it's AI is actually the best in the 2K series. I would even do AI vs AI and the matches were pretty great. Still think that's the best sim WWE game. If you're more into the arcadey WWE games then that games not for you.

Hey man great video! Loved how you didn’t shy away from your views on why you didn’t purchase ufc 4. I wish all gamers would learn to leave a franchise for a year or two if they don’t like the direction it’s going. I think that would improve games as a whole.

They need to bring back grappling from Undisputed 3 and combine it with EA UFC 3 striking system, bring back Pride mode and deeper career mode.

I have very similar sentiments as you as someone who intentionally skipped out on 4 and just got 5 - bugs aside I love it. I also started following the sport around the same time you did and it’s heartwarming to hear the story of you and your dad. My son looks forward to watching combat sports with me and I hope we’re creating the same fond memories you have with your dad.

27:54 I was addicted too I still consider Undisputed 3 the goat and I played UFC 3 first so there’s no nostalgia attached when I say this. With that being said, when my mom brought UFC 3 for me back in 10th grade I played this game from 3pm on a Sunday all the way to the morning 😂😂😂 I only remember almost missing my bus and train twice sleeping and music class at the end of the day. EA UFC 3 to this day is the greatest EA title ever made I only got UFC 5 for the roster if I’m being honest.

I have a PS4 and Xbox One but I keep my PlayStation 3 out just for when I want to play Undisputed 3. There’s no matching that gameplay. It was simple yet deep. Rewarding and easy enough to learn.

I played a shit ton of ufc 4. And with that, I feel like I’m alone when I say ufc 5 just feels more alive. That online career mode is so cool. It’s addicting af! It’s x10 more fun than the single player career mode. Like you stated, the rush of beating someone in this even in 5, is a trip. The pick ems you can do before a PPV and the fight contracts are fun for me too. Don’t care for the live service tropes attached to it, but it gives me something to do when I’m waiting for a fight night to air.

I actually got ufc 4 as my first ufc game a while ago but sometime in that I collected the original undisputed trilogy for the 360 once I had gone through those games I always looked down on the ea sports ufc cause they really didn’t come close and still don’t with the disappointment that is ufc 5

What’s crazy is I’ve played ALOT of ufc 4. I can count exactly the amount of times I have got a clean KO and was able to follow up with strikes. No not a tko. A clean KO followed by doom. 2 times. Exactly 2 times.

my last game before i picked up UFC 4 was Undisputed 3, which god what a fucking game. UFC 4 felt fresh especially because i hadn’t picked up a game in a long time, also it helps i get it through EA Play. I also got the trial for 5 through EA Play and only played it for 30 minutes before deleting it. controls overhaul, skin tones look weird and it looks visually stunning but like also played like UFC 4. am i tripping?

What amazes me is how EA Sports MMA from 2010 is infinitely better than all of the EA Sports UFC games combined, which is fucking pathetic. If the gameplay was on the same quality as EA Sports MMA or better, then I would have picked it up for the PS4. No questions asked. It would have been the same as EA Sports MMA with just some branding differences. It's not the same at all. I gave EA Sports UFC 1 a chance from a rental store and it just sucked from top to bottom. I played the other EA Sports UFC games at my friends' house and while they improved in gameplay and content, it was not by much. They should have built upon what EA Sports MMA did four years prior to EA Sports UFC 1, but instead they just disrespected it.

The year UFC4 came out EA really had a strange Boxart thing going on. Non of their sport games covers looked like a sport game at all. Instead it took one of the worst aspects of profesional sport on - way to rich assholes flaunting their money. Nothing about sports, just ego.

My beef with these games is the complete lack of game modes. U have the worst career mode i’ve ever played on sports games and just a versus mode (online & offline). In the wwe games there’s showcase, universe , my gm, etc. Also the roster is very weak in terms of legends

I do remember that fight in the ATL in '08 with Liddell and Evans, that KO was the most shocking moment of the year and it was a great moment for Evans because he would get a title shot after that while for Chuck it was a sad slow downfall. 😢
