Kochikame’s 90s anime show is also popular in both India and Spain of all countries. People are still having fond memories of that thing.

Thank you, i've been trying harder to look for and incorporate panels now, it's gotten easier overtime as the throughout the years the manga become more accessible!

I live in Brazil and i have heard of Ring ni Kakero before although only online. I was born in 2001 though so maybe older people rememberer it. I never saw it in any libraries that have manga so i don't know though. I found a 2004 blogpost talking about it's influence in saint seiya, i would think it's popularity is a side effect of saint seiya's since the SS anime was immensely popular over here, it even held the TV ratings record for at least a decade and even when i was a kid they still broadcasted it in TV(probably until 2010).
@TrentinArt14 күн бұрын
Ohhh really interesting! It'd make sense if it being known was a bi-product after Saint Seiyas popularity since it was a prior big series by kurumada and I think his second most known! Cool to hear about its legacy from other countries though!

Ive certainly seen that eyebrow cop a lot, never knew the source. Sounds really charming, and that art is rather beautiful, i dont normally expect it from gag manga... ill look it up, even though i have never seen an actually funny manga comedy. Might be that reliance on bokke-tsukkomi routine and loud = funny that ruins my enjoyment

Ohh Ryotsu is hugeee, Comedy manga can be hit or miss but i love it. I did a big 1 hour collab about the topic featuring a bunch of other people if your interested

Kochikame, indeed, was publised by Planeta in Spain. The edition was based on a special edition that compiled what the author said it was his best period (his best chapters). Basically 10 volumes that compiled 2 japanese tankoubon in 1, in other words, japanese volumes from 81 to 100 in just 10 volumes. They are funny, in Spain the anime was popular at the beginning of the century (it was aired on all autonomic channel, there are likely 5 dubs of Kochikame just in Spain) but it's a shame that there aren't any chapters from the beginning.

blue city sounds really cool id like to check that one out. and i do find it interesting how a very weird one like Ankoku Shinwa got a game made out of it. come on people give us some more lesser known manga/anime game releases lol kockikame is one id like to see random episodes/chapters just for how huge and important it is plus it sounds funny just like Lupin
@TrentinArt Жыл бұрын
Yeah Blue city as a serious scifi manga seems pretty cool but sadly its untranslated. The Legend of Giants by the same author is though and tackles some similar ideas! Kochikame and Lupin is a great comparison i think! Both are character comedies with lots of recurring gags/characters and focus on their roles a lot, policeman/thief! A lot of the chapters you can find translated are from random points throughout it's history so definitely try to track them down if you can!

I wonder what's shonen jumped did as a magazine that made it so much more popular than all the other magazines
@TrentinArt Жыл бұрын
I think just a large number of popular manga, I can't point to you exactly when it overtook it's rivals but the 80s and 90s when it had manga like Dragonball, Slam Dunk, Fist of the North Star etc where a huge time for the magazine and it just kept getting popular until it's peak in like 1996? i think, and because of all those and one piece later down the line it's retained the most popular!
