The empty seat is one of the most sacred of traditions, That should a stranger or friend knock at your door. They would have a place to sit, That should that seat remain empty, ancestors long past would have a place to sit. That should a stranger or friend arrive a broom sweeps the seat. The most important thing about Christmas Eve meal is that we realize Christ was not born on an altar in a church, but in the manger of a stable. That we would treat the lowest person with the most compassion.
