Shaun, this is the most therapeutic thing I've heard in a week or more of lockdown. I am stuck in the Philippines, with 3 daughters scattered between Australia, Spain, and the UK. I am also a granddad too and I am going mental with worry. I could listen to John all day as he is a magnificent storyteller - he really took me back to the life we used to know, before the madness. Five loud drunk yank marines went in the peep show and started being really vulgar and abusive to the girl working, so she fucked off. They came out shouting and demanded their money back "we'll fuck you up, we are the u s marines " etc. "calm down lads I'll get your money " then I got bucket from behind the door and jumped out in the ready to throw position and said "go for it first ones getting a bucket of spunk in the face, now fuck me up cunts" they turned and fled out the door . Shaun, you've had some very interesting guests on your program, but to me, John Lawson is the most inspiring yet. I am a Christian and I have liked what I know of you as a person. You seem like a very intelligent, caring and likable guy. I'm a painter and decorator and once got a call for a job at one of the clubs in soho. I went out to discuss options and quote the job. I met the owner, Mario, a short, dark haired guy who was getting my advice on darkening the ground floor window. He asked: "canna you make a Maltese blind?" So I stabbed him in the eye!

Great interview I was in a very similar lifestyle back in 2013 and I was took to church riddled with addiction to alcohol and cocaine and through going to church and 12 steps programme I'm not free from crime,alcohol and cocaine 5 years sober and I'm now caretaker for the church I walked into 7 years ago..I'm not crazy religious but it saved me from the world of pain I lived in for 20 years..Great content guys really,really enjoyed that interview :)..

Anyone who has seen the first Krays movie (played by the Kemp brothers) will remember a scene in the early 1960's around the time of the Maltese mafia era, where the Maltese guys tried to shake down the Krays for protection racket money on the first club the Krays bought for £1 off an old guy who was getting shaken down left right and center and wanted to sell out. And the Krays came out with bayonets at the Maltese guys! In the film, Reg or Ron stabs the head Maltese guy in the hand on a pool table right through as a warning not to mess with the Krays. Not sure if that really happened, but the film was well researched so probably did happen.

At 22 I ran security teams in Australia. I immediately related to this story of extreme controlled and measured violence that lead to me hating myself for the last 17 years. I became and alcoholic trying to bury my demons. I tried to kill myself, my demons were stacked far to high. Now I am 1 year sober, violence isn’t the currency I trade in anymore. With the help of AA I have started to truely forgive myself for my sins. My last public act of violence was nearly 2yrs ago. I smashed up the whole front of a bakery while it was full of employees because the owner owed me $400. The red mist, I’ve seen to often

The Iceman, Richard Kuklinski, was a liar. He claimed to have killed at least 200 people and to have been a top level professional hitman. The crimes he was actually convicted of were sloppy with evidence and witnesses. For example the murder of Gary Smith. He tried poisoning Smith with cyanide but failed and ended up strangling him to death and hiding the body in the motel they were staying at. He actually hid the body in the base of the rooms bed, suprise suprise it was discovered 4 days later after stinking the room out. Definitely not a professional job! He also stated that he was involved in the hits on Carmine Galante and Paul Castellano which was BS. He also claimed to be involved in Roy DeMeos crew, carrying out hits for them, even though they were regarded as the biggest killers the mob have ever seen (members of DeMeos crew stated that they'd never even heard of Kuklinski!) Kuklinski was a killer, but was certainly not responsible for 90% of the murders he claimed. He either got a psychopathic kick from these lies or Philip Carlo ramped the numbers and depravity to sell books. His stories about spraying cyanide into faces are ridiculous (the spray would go everywhere, with a fair bit no doubt covering your own clothes and skin and the quantities needed to kill would make this method impossible) and his stories of trying out different methods of murder on the homeless and random stranger were also BS. It all makes for an interesting book, but is as far from reality that it shouldn't have been sold as True Crime.

The other fact that makes a mockery of Kuklinskis claims is the fact that, as a Pole, the Italian American mob wouldn't use him (they tend to stick to ethnical roots)

Kuklinski was a psychopath who put his poor wife through hell (beating the living daylights out of her often, breaking her nose etc and hospitalising her several times) I really enjoyed The Iceman film, with it portraying an apparent normal(ish) family man that just happened to kill people for a living. The reality is that Kuklinski scared the hell out of his whole family, his wife only stayed with him because she knew he'd kill her AND their children if she ever tried leaving him!
