I hated so many bands from that era but Hives were outstanding. Such a Unique band. Had a break for nearly 15 years, came back to Bogus Operandi and I'm amazed by their old songs, again. They even sound much better to me now. Holy, this band is hot as fire.

Yeah, after Lex Hives, they seemed to disappear. Then they put out a few new songs in 2019 but not much. But last year, they put out a full new album and this year, I finally saw them live for the first time. They put on a great show.

Veni Vidi Vicious was my introduction to the band. Well, specifically, Hate to Say I Told You So was my introduction, but then I got the whole album and loved it and the rest is history. I'm not even sure Hate to Say I Told You So is my favorite.

I really didn't appreciate The Hives enough back in the day. I just heard their hit and took them as a band that wouldn't matter in a year or two. I was right, but I was so wrong. The early 00's airwaves were just largely dominated by so much nonsense you were almost conditioned to automatically forget about it. I totally missed this intricate Indy punk bullshit these kids were doing. I like it.

Similar feeling. Not the proper publicity of the album and it would be radically different and turn you off. So much time goes by but it seems too late, you lose interest. You revisit and wish you were a part of it in those missing years. A kind of ghost land of memories to fill in.
