The hole in the castle from the Mario 64 DS save screen was, I think, a leftover from Mario 64x4's demo and all it had was a cannon, according to a comment on a 64x4 KZbin video.

I'm guessing that when the Wii version magically transformed into the DS one, he wanted to show that you have to use Download Play on the DS. Download Play on the DS made this kind of sound and had this kind of icon when searching for devices to connect. And theoretically, it *is* possible for the Wii to do that since Nintendo Channel had Nintendo DS demos where you had to use Download Play on the DS. Select a demo you want on your Wii, connect the DS to it and then it'll download a demo from Nintendo's server to the Wii and then that had to be downloaded from the Wii to the DS. Nowadays, it's so much easier because Nintendo doesn't put up demos for most of their games anymore. *rimshot*

I remember when I first saw the Majora's Mask Wii U one and actually believed it. The Super Mario Galaxy DS one looks hella legit. The fact he took the time to take the console limitations into account unlike what he did for the Super Mario GBA game back in the day really shows how good he got with time. I think it'd be pretty cool to see a SM64DS mod based on this leak.

Oh. One more thing. The wii could have easily transferred a ds download play demo of Galaxy DSto the ds, although I don’t know how saving the game would have worked

gamers in a container You could connect it back to the Wii and save it on the Wii. If it'd have just used a download, it could've sent the DS game with a savestate and then, once it's done downloading, you could've taken your DS anywhere because it doesn't require the Wii after that. When you'd be done, you could request a connection on both systems and then the DS would've sent the necessary information to the Wii (starbits, stars, lives?) and... that's how it could've been done.

I'm only saying "savestate" because you couldn't save a game on download play. It has to save on a cardridge. So my solution is to emulate what a savefile would do by having just the necessary savefile informations. E.g., you got 2 stars on DS, transfer that back to Wii, connect Wii to DS, get Mario Galaxy DS and the 2 stars (and probably other stuff) back.

I actually remember seeing that Mario Galaxy DS hoax once back in Reesor Park Public School and boy, were my cohorts ever entranced by it. Now that I've seen this video and found out that it was created by one guy as a school project... I gotta give him props for taking the time and effort to create such an elaborate hoax. 16:30 The wii actually COULD connect to the DS perfectly fine and a Pokemon game on the system makes it to where you can battle on the TV screen with pokemon you have on your DS cart. It's fun, I tried it before. Besides that it's possible.

Back then I tried to be skeptical about Nintendo On but I wanted it so much I ended up falling for it anyway. In retrospect, the content itself is kind of ridiculous, but the hoax was put together so well that it was still hype, and the castle scene still gives me the chills.
