I read my Mum's copy of the Hobbit back in 2021 I believe while keeping Henri my Pet bird company because she was very ill and was clearly feeling pain inside her neck. when we took her to the Vet we found that she had cancer and my beloved bird passed away soon after. I found this book a very comforting read

It annoys me the way 'queer' has become the preferred term nowadays. I mean, why not just say 'gay' or 'homosexual'? All these trendy words and phrases floating around out there really get on my nerves.

@@GreenAshR47 Well sometimes people in the lgbtq+ community can tend to get annoyed when you assume they are gay or lesbian (most do not but I have come across a few) so queer can be a way to say "I'm part of the lqbtq+ community" or "I think you are part of the lgbtq+ community" without making someone mad or annoyed. Queer means: "denoting or relating to a sexual or gender identity that does not correspond to established ideas of sexuality and gender, especially heterosexual norms." :]

@@GreenAshR47 Plus I'm pretty sure (could be wrong) queer was the original way to point out someone wasn't heterosexual because the word gay used to mean happy or cheerful

@@GreenAshR47 It's because those two terms don't cover everybody. Not every person who IDs as 'queer' is gay or even just homosexual. Like me. I'm queer because I'm Bi. Or my partner who is non-binary. So maybe just respect the words people use to self-identify, because it doesn't hurt you any to do so.
