FILM DESCRIPTION:
Peter Jackson takes cues from the appendices of The Lord of the Rings to expand New Line Cinema's Hobbit adaptation with this third film completing the epic tale of Bilbo Baggins, as played by Martin Freeman. The story opens to find the vengeful dragon Smaug (voice of Benedict Cumberbatch) decimating the peaceful hamlet of Laketown as Bilbo, Thorin (Richard Armitage) and the rest of the dwarves lay claim to the Lonely Mountain. But their celebration is short-lived as Thorin grows obsessed with finding the Arkenstone. Meanwhile, Galadriel (Cate Blanchett) Elrond (Hugo Weaving) and Saruman (Christopher Lee) battle the Nazgul in an attempt to free Gandalf (Ian McKellen), and get some unexpected help from eccentric wizard Radagast (Sylvester McCoy). Unfortunately for all involved the struggle has only just begun, because as armies of dwarves, elves, orcs, humans and goblins converge at the base of the Lonely Mountain, the fight for the future of Middle Earth begins.

It really underlined how much friendship he built traveling with them. The movies are a few hours but that moment reminds you that they’ve been friends for almost a year of traveling, conversation, joking, good food, watching each other’s backs; it really makes the scene poignant

Every one of us begins life without a care in the world, a proverbial "Child of the kindly West". Sooner or later, we all begin to see the world as it truly is. No less beautiful, but much less innocent. We are broken down, and scarred. But these scars make us who we are. And we are forged through our own adventures into something new. Something maybe less pure, but every bit as whole, and with a new and different kind of strength than we had before. We grow up.

I wonder after seeing the hobbit and lord of the rings, who do you have more respect towards Bilbo or Frodo? Knowing that both have gone through hell and fire to accomplish what they've done, and even if Bilbo did not destroy a greater evil like Sauron he still saved middle earth in his own way like Gandalf says, Bilbo's actions may have moved the faith of many before Frodo got the ring.

Even though Bilbo's quest was great and had many hardships, I think that Frodo had to way more obstacles and hardships to pass then Bilbo. Frodo had to carry the burden of the ring, knowing that if he failed, Sauron would take over middle earth. Even though I love all of these tales, I think that overall, The Lord Of The Rings movie and books were better, they show friendship, hardship, betrayal, death in a very serious but entertaining matter. If you have only watched the movies before, I highly recommend the books as well. Also the books such as Beren and Lúthien and The Silmarillion are also great reads and each talk about the ages before the Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit.

In my opinion Bilbo went thru worse because he lost several good friends along the path and while yes the fate of middle earth did not necessarily lie in the path Smaug and the rise of sauron were a great threat. Frodo didi not lose any friends along the way while Bilbo lost Throin, Fili and Kili.

I wish during or maybe at the end of LOTR bilbo told Frodo or made mention to Frodo about his friendship or adventure with thorin n the dwarves. Woulda been kinda cool if Gandalf referenced it too but would have been more meaningful coming from bilbo to Frodo or maybe Gandalf saying to bilbo “remember thorin n his thick headedness? Or bilbo remember when we were all on trees n u went n saved thorin from that wargs mouth?” I’m sure this could have been possible cus the hobbit adventures were known while Peter was filming LOTR
