mclain8855 i have heard that Jerry Garcia pulled strings and got a bunch of his studio buddies admitted. A guy thta had only played with the Dead one time! Ididnt think Garcia was like that. Too bad i always admired him. The Guess Who...way overdue , at least Burton Cummings. Thats why this whole thing is a farce. I mean look at their MC.

While listening to the radio when I was pregnant, I wondered what name I would choose if I had a girl. Had no ideas until I listened to the song Carrie Anne. I said That’s what I’m gonna name my daughter, I had a girl. And I did! Thanks to The Hollies.

The Hollies have such a distinct harmonic sound that you know its them even if it's a song you never heard. A few years back, there was a Planters ad using an obscure Hollies song whose title slips my mind. Graham Nash has had the great forturne to be in two Hall of Fame acts that have instantly recognizable harmonies in the service of songs that are still with us.

I was born in the right one! I first heard them on the BBC wireless and then BBC TV in the early mid-60s when we lived in Malta - I fell in love with Tony Hicks - the MOST underrated guitar god rocker ever! He sang play guitar, had the best hair (by about '66) and gorgeous eyes. He's still fab - as cute as Paul McC. Love the Hollies, and not because my name is Holly.

Jd Mc in the 80s.....you mised the boat. The heyday was the late 60s. Maybe early 70s. Thye may have recorded a song in the 80s, but I dont remember them touring. They were considred an Oldies band by then. Like The Searchers, orFourmost, etc. they wouldnt have fit in with the Disco thing in the 80s and late 70s. To their credit. It was garbage. A badtime for music. All of the 80s.

They're a wonderful group - I don't know why people must rate them compared to all other English groups. I certainly rather like Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Stones, The Beatles, Yes, Derek and the Dominos, Faces, 10cc, The Zombies, Delaney and Bonnie, The Yardbirds, Dave Clark Five - and a few hundred others! It doesn't reduce my great liking of The Hollies. There's much really distinctive about Look Through any Window and Pay Me Back with Interest and Bus Stop. But you can't deny there's much distinctive about the music of the other groups I've just named.

According to a comment Terry made after the ceremony, he said he didn't arrive at the hotel until March 14th, and the rehearsals had been going on since the 12th. I don' know what the RNRHOF's policy is with rehearsals and whether you have to be invited or not, but no one has made any mention of being invited to them. Bobby and Tony could not come because they had a prior commitment - another concert taking place on the 17th and were in rehearsals prior to that, so they could not come.
@plasteredbastard4 жыл бұрын
Should be thought of more than they are, their harmonies and melody were truly a thing of wonder and quite honestly rival that of the Beatles. Fave song of anything featured on Mad Men wasn't TNK by Fab Four but On a Carousel. Poignant television use of a song.

Of course The Hollies should have been inducted many moons ago. It seems as if RRHF likes to wait to the last minute, that is when the inductees-to-be become frail and/or ill. I think, as another fan posted, that they wait for new acts to come up (more like the big modern moneymakers. The Hollies could never think of the present money made when they themselves were in their great hayday. Money is the idol. Hollies rule.
