update: he was actually starting to become self-aware because your attacking weakened the radiance. Since he wasn't fully hollow, he used what little emotion and love he had from being raised by the pale king, and established that the only way he couldn't hurt you, was to kill himself. for me , i felt like at that point the hollow knights mind is hanging on by a thread from his life of being created for the sol purpose of containing the radiance, realizing the type of man the pale king was so it leads me to believe he is snapping at that point because he uses more infected attacks which i believe hint at the radiance finally taking over and with his last bit of sentience he is possibly trying to help or either fed up with all of it and just trying to die either my god team cherry😭

@@GURUcj Idk it seems to me Hollow Knight knew the purpose of his creation. Also, unrelated but fun fact the deleted Dream Nail Dialogue of Pure Vessel did realize that he needed to be fully Hollow, either to satisfy his creator or he tried to be a hero to Hallownest, but he had a mind to think, which is a a big flaw. It'd be a lot more tragic if he indeed was trying to save Hallownest, because he was able to see everything in Hallownest, even though chained, he realized that he failed and doomed everyone.

The scream is the radiance’s scream. “No voice to cry suffering” and all. At the start after you break his chains you can hear his silent “scream” similar to Pure Vessel

@@ishthewall1915 it's definitely the radiance's scream. all the other infected creatures/bosses have that exact same scream, and the pure vessel doesn't make a sound (unless you count the boss music, which i don't). plus, you can hear that scream in the cutscene between pure vessel and absolute radiance fight (where the two vessels are looking at each other in the void). and although the default radiance doesn't make that actual scream herself in her fight, she still makes similar sounds. and she's allowed to have multiple roars lmao it's not like she's completely insane

Not that I have any problem with the confusion. The only explicit signs that you aren't the Hollow Knight are the memorial and the boss title card. Otherwise, it's all implicit.

this fight is probably the most depressing in the game for one reason, he's not really fighting you, it's The Radiance, she's controlling him into fighting you off so you won't interfere with her. He even tries helping you by trying to stab the infection at himself and he just gets weaker as the fight continues eventually reaching a point where he collapses at one swing with his sword. The Hollow Knight as a character is just so depressing because it's entire existence was to contain something it could never contain.

It makes it all the sweeter to finally put an end to the radiance after seeing fist hand the misery she inflicted on the kingdom for no other reason then selfishness and narcissism and the terrible lengths the king went to in order to stop it. Also, it's a better ending in general because this one is pretty much doom - knight has killed all the dreamers so there's no one to protect him and sooner or later the radiance will break out and take over

Nope. Hallownest is dead. The bugs there are corpses animated by infection. Seemingly the only Hallownest bug to not be infected is the Menderbug. With the infection fully consumed, the husks become what they should be; corpses.

Having beaten the pure vessel, and contended with the absolute radiance, I can't help but feel bad for their original forms. The hollow knight used to be a formidable warrior, yet the radiance enslaved it to her will, and withered it away. All the hollow knight can do is try to end his life to contain the radiance, yet she forces him to fight against his will. The radiance is also depressing in a way, once a benevolent Goddess of light imprisoned, and left to rot in dreams, with her loyal followers abandoning her In service to the pale King. She became a shell of the great Goddess she once was, and was consumed by rage. Of course, the only true winner in this games story is the void, As it ended up consuming both it's enemies ( radiance and pale King) and was able to find peace after being abused, exploited, and enslaved by the wills of the wyrms.

In between 0:00 and 0:17, If you watch closely after the 2nd chain breaks his face slowly moves to look to you. Interesting hey? But pretty creepy, though what do you expect from a creature who tried to seal the infection inside themself? Addition: Also, after that his shoulder pads seem to break off when he is released. Though I couldn't find remnants of the object. But if that's not the case, the shoulder pads are hidden somewhere not visible from the angle in the game we view as the player. Edit: I soon realized that they do break off but the remnants break when they hit the floor, so they were not visible.

He doesn't seal the infection, the Pale King sealed it within him in the temple by using the dreamers. The Hollow Knight had no choice, although he knew it was his purpose, and his desire to fill this purpose is what caused him to become an unfit vessel, giving the Radiance a mind and will to seep into and spread throughout the kingdom again. The Pale King likely told him of his purpose, and THK grew affection for the people (bugs, I guess) of Hallownest and the fact it was even capable of feeling anything caused it be impure. This is why even the player knight cannot contain the Radiance, since in order to willingly contain it, we have a will, and in the true ending, we (the player knight) consciously unite the void.

Does this mean the Dreamers were Sealed with the Sealed Vessel? If so, how did they get their bodies out? Did they have to be asleep (like Hornet, when knocked out) to become the Dreamers?

Little 「【Fury】」 It should mean that all the next hollow knight has to do is approach the black egg to open it since there are no extra seals. From what I can understand, sealed siblings ending is the worst one because hornet becomes a seal for the black egg but she's inside the black egg so you can't really uh... get her. So that ending means you've screwed everyone over. Really late comment but still! The king may have done something so 3 select people could be seals for the black egg and all spread across hallownest.

I heard that if you don't have the void heart the knight is actually hollow because he's not corrupted by any thoughts or feelings so if he takes in the plague he's is able to hold it in forever without it getting out. But by gaining the void heart he learns more about himself and in turn he is corrupted by thoughts and is no longer truly hollow so when the sealed siblings ending is got there is no one to stop the plague due to hornet being locked in with you

The Broken Exile The fact you can dream nail the Hollow Knight proves said corruption and like I said, sealed siblings is the worst possible ending as a broken vessel attempts to contain the plague. However the knight you fight against is also corrupt. The one you see has been shown to have a sort of bond with the pale king in a small cut scene at the end of the greatest punishment. This father and son bond makes him a bad vessel as well. The thing is though is that the dreamers can be reached found all over Hallownest whereas Hornet is unreachable unless she broke the seal herself somehow. Technically the worst possible ending is probably you failing to consume the light. The light is banished and breaking this sort of seal that is the Hollow Knight releases it I believe. This would put the entire kingdom back into a hivemind while the Wyrm runs off to another kingdom that he can ruin most likely. Probably not 100% accurate but who cares?!

Such a well made boss fight, you can see as he takes more damage the hollow knight starts to break out of the radiance’s control and tries to end himself. You can see that it simply either is too weak to or does not want to fight you and as the boss fight goes on it uses more infection attacks and almost looks like something is using it a puppet

I just got this ending today, and really, the only thing that I can see happening is the same thing again. A few hundreds of years later, some other hollow vessel will come along and instead of fighting the Hollow Knight, they'll fight you. Then the cycle will repeat once again. Through their sacrifice, Hallownest lasts eternal, though not in the way anyone wanted.

As the player, you play as one of the last remaining vessels, and probably the only one strong enough to take the Hollow Knight's place. Everything is leading up to it and you expect some hard boss fight, but it's not even that hard, it's just... Sad. The atmosphere and tragedy in the bossfight makes it so darn good.
