At Strayland, I have all kinds of incredible stuff, from trophies and awards to cool cars and other big-kid toys. But the one thing here that I treasure the most is one of the oldest. My childhood pride and joy, the thing I mowed half the lawns in Mannheim to earn enough money for: the super-awesome BMX Kuwahara Laserlite.

I love your Dad for the lesson he taught you. I would mow lawns before there were lawn services and I shoveled driveways in the winter, etc. There you are with your bike. Sounds like you have a great dad.

Kuwahara BMX from Okinawa Japan. They made some of the best BMX bikes. I had a Kuwahara Exhibitionist in purple it was sweet! It got stolen. I got a Kuwahara Scamp afterwards it was white and lavender. It was pretty cool too!

Mr Strayhan, your father obviously brought you up right! You appreciate things more when you buy it yourself. Excellent choice of one of the top of the line BMX bikes available at that time. I was a Kuwahara nut then too, and still am. Currently building an 83 Laserlite myself. It’s also awesome that you still have it and cherish it. Only thing you need to change it is the tires. Get a set of gum walls for that piece of BMX history you have!!!

Word, me and both of my brothers all , had the same lesson in the early 80's. To get a Mongoose with all the cool stuff. Our parents paid half and we paid for the other half. I believe we all three still have those bikes! Oh and my younger sister did as well!

I was my dads brick and block tender in summer and on weekends plus I wheeled and dealed and traded up constantly, id even buy a raggedy frame, flip it and repaint and flip it! Best trade was a Schwinn scrambler frame for a quadangle frame. And a redline frame for, repaint and tripled my cash! Way top hang onto that Mr. Strahan!
