من جود عبد الله ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما انه ارعى رجلا من العرب إبِلا له فاسمنها وردّها كأنها قصور فقال كيف تراها...؟ قال تسر الناظر وتخصب الزائر فقال فانها لك، ولك أجرك. فبكى الأعرابي فقال له ما يبكيك..؟ قال ابكي ظناً بهذا الوجه ان يعفّر بالتراب فقال عبد الله: لهذا القول احسن من قصيدة From the generousity of Abdullah bin 'Abas (raa) he gave his camels to an Arab beduin to bread and care for them. The beduin returned them after few years strong and healthy, he said aren't they pleasure for the eyes...? Abdullah said: they're all yours, besides your wage. The beduin cried. Abdullah said why are you crying..! The beduin said: I cry to imagine this beautiful face would be buried down into the sand. Abdullah said: your thought is better than a poem.

Without wishing to detract from any beneficial knowledge imparted by - and with great respect to - the Sheikh, I cannot agree with his description at 07:47 of Kate Forbes as 'real' ahl-ul-kitaab. For all the praiseworthy characteristics of Calvinists, they are nonetheless Trinitarians (regardless the manner they wish to describe or conceive it). God has always been explicit in His message to ahl-ul-kitaab of His oneness. 'Real' ahl-ul-kitaab would never contradict that message.

​@@ponderingspirit I don't doubt that a majority of Christians _were_ Trinitarians at the time of the Prophet (saw) - this is reflected in the regular Qur'anic refutation of their saying 'God has taken a son'. However, ahl-ul-kitaab are not a monolith since the Qur'an also makes a salient distinction between genres of ahl-ul-kitaab. On the one hand, God speaks of those from the former scriptures who try to turn the Prophet (saw) away from Islam and on the other hand, He speaks of those whose eyes overflow with tears at the mention of God's verses. My argument is that it is the latter group from among them who have always - explicitly or implicitly - recognised/accepted Tawheed that should be regarded as 'real' ahl-ul-kitaab, regardless of praiseworthy characteristics (such as reverence to scripture) of Trinitarian sects. And Allah knows best.
