Great to see the design and manufacturing process of alloy wheels - or carbon-fibre wheels in this case.

I have to admit I'm a bit confused. The article I read that led to this video said that the process involved chunks of CF mixed with glue in a mold, but that still looks like fairly normal woven CF. Or are the big "plain black" chunks at ~1:12 the compressed molded "forged" CF? If you're willing to explain, of course. :)

@@victorarnaud763 those "compressed chunks" are actually just chopped carbon fiber strands, and the sheets are prepreg carbon sheets, (just carbonfiber sheets that are moist with epoxy) you could make these wheels at home if you had the patience to create a mold. Carbon fiber isnt rocket science but companies sure want you to think so.

FORGED CARBON WHEELS WOW

Only the 1st layer is forged, the rest of the wheel is prepreg carbon fiber, otherwise, it Wouldn’t have that strenght and the wheel would shatter

Are these forged carbon? It looks like carbon fiber prepreg is being cut and laid at the beginning but the finish looks like forged carbon. Absolutely beautiful and stunning craftsmanship!!

These are not true forged carbon - they just use a chop matt for the visual layer. True forged carbon is done with chop matt and put under hydraulic compression. This is pretty standard pre-preg layup which will be put into an auto-clave .
