I love the idea of whipped cream body butter. I have been making salves for a long time. Every time I look up a lotion recipe, it has some chemicals listed to add that I don't want to put on my skin. I love the recipe you used--no nasty preservatives. Essential oils have preserving qualities. The main thing is not to introduce water. Water will contribute to bacterial contamination. So one doesn't want any steam to get into the oil (or condensation). Don't put lids on until completely cooled which is what you did. Some people will cover the filled jars with a clean cloth until cooled and the cloth helps to absorb any moisture. Thanks again for a wonderful video!

Whoot whoot... number 76 to like the video! Super excited. Thrilled to see you opening your doors for us. I do alot of Old World Care myself. This spring I highly recommend making a tincture of Lilac in Vodka.... used topically for muscle strains by my family for hundreds of years... Considering my grandmother was born in 1899, I get to say it... but I agree... do not take my word for it. Do your own research. Check with your own Doctors and caregivers. Now to enjoy this video. Hugs from Esquimalt

I’m very interested in buying beef, pork, tallow, etc from a regenerative farm & live in southern PA, how does one go about finding one that sells to homeowners, not just businesses? Thanks 😊

The last time I made anything lotion or balm esque was when the internet was in its infancy, and the recipe’s base was shortening (Crisco). It’s probably about time I try again now that cleaner recipes and ingredients are readily accessible via the internet. =) Thanks for sharing your knowledge & experience.

My whipped body butter sticks to the mixer and hardens faster than I can get it off. 😢 I have people requesting lip balm containers rather than tins because they don’t want to use their hands on their face, but I put the same balm I make on my nails, hands, neck and lips. I keep a tin in the car for when I’m stopped at lights to put on this winter. Feels so good! 😊

Question: can lard be used in place of tallow? Your opinion, is what I am asking. Thank you so much! Great video!
@seedandsparrowhomestead
@seedandsparrowhomestead 5 ай бұрын
I personally would not, the benefits are just not the same. I choose to keep lard for soap and cooking.

I have read that tallow is the best natural moisturizer for our skin. Can this tallow butter be used all over , like getting out of the shower and such? Also is daily too much to use it on your face?Thanks!

Will any rose hips work or do you need certain roses?
@seedandsparrowhomestead

I chose the rose petals for the benefits in their oils. Rose hips have some benefits as well although I’ve never tried infusing oil with them.

Is there nothing you can't do! Question: I have tried making tallow balm and it still smells like beef. It feels great going on, and then my dog stalks me in order to lick it off me! How do you get the smell out? No amount of essential oils seemed to help!

Could you use the tallow balm on a baby when changing their nappy?
@seedandsparrowhomestead
@seedandsparrowhomestead 5 ай бұрын
Absolutely but I’d change some ingredients, tallow, calendula infused oil and some chamomile EO(fine to omit) would be perfect! I use the calendula salve on diaper rash too.

Could I whip the salve too? I am trying to find lotions I could make myself for all of the body ( rather than spot treatment) so I can stop purchasing from store ( no chem) and can afford real ingredients. I am a sucker for unusual scents ( not just floral)
@seedandsparrowhomestead
@seedandsparrowhomestead 5 ай бұрын
Hmm, I never tried, I’m not sure the properties are there to make it happen, I don’t think the beeswax would work.

I am wondering if the darker amber color of the glass, helps to keep light out...hence keeping the salve from spoiling faster?
