My favorite build actually is a bow paladin. Start with ravenclaw and holy fire (later kuko shukaku) you can easily beat nightmare players 8. Switch to good gear in hell, i use the runeword brand in bow, dragon armor, dream helmet. Max out resist fire and light, max fanaticism if running with infy mercenary or max conviction if running with faith mercenary. It is really fun to play shooting explosive arrows rapidly, spam bone spears from brand and spawn hydras from dragon. Hell players 8 is still kinda challenging in some areas, but this is so much fun, highly recommand that build :) rest of my gear is pierce belt, draculs gloves, gore riders, highlords, bk, raven and most inventory for resist charms.

​@@d.t.3495 The key of this bow paladin is his aoe dmg due to explosive arrows. Holy fire (and im pretty sure also shock and freeze) adds its weapon fire dmg to explosive arrow. This makes it far stronger than fire ball with no mana costs. Fire mastery of the sorc also increases the explosive dmg, but the base dmg of a lvl 15 explosive arrow (on kuko and brand) is too low. You need to add flat fire dmg. Maybe with alot of +fire dmg charms, but not sure about that in vanilla d2. Usually you play bow sorc with widowmaker, dream, enchant and lightning mastery. But there is no good aoe, so it is definitely slower.

On the necros mana issue: I feel strongly that the reason the necros mana costs are so high and his max mana is so low, is because they wanted to set him apart from the sorc, as they are the 2 main casters (b4 you could put enigma on a hdin) and they wanted him to feel unique and not just like a sorc with different spells. Although I may not agree with the way they did it, with the constricted mana, I believe that is what they were going for. This is simply my theory though ofc.

Cool build! It's kind of weird to me that Blizzard made so many great items like Homunculus an Death's Web but that they didn't put the basic stats like +to FCR on them. It's kind of lame that so many great uniques are made obsolete by runewords or are lacking basic stats for caster items.

Poison nova you really don't need fcr. It's done over time and has a very large AOE. Plus corpse explosion is going to be used for killing mobs. Nova is used for the first couple of kills and bosses

Best set up is 3 piece trang with deaths web and 75 fcr. 20glove+10ring+10ring+20circlet+15+amulet. The block on trangs is also pretty Good for block build. No 2/20 circlet DB?

Depends on what you're looking for on your character. Spirit in offhand gives +35 FCR. That's not always easy to replace. You gain mana regen but lose a hefty bonus to base mana as well. Are there huge perks in a couple added levels to curses?

Would the 3-piece trang's shield be better than both spirit and homunculus? I think it should be better if you go bramble instead of enigma, then losing 20fcr from arach belt would not matter much if you are not teleporting. Good block chance on that one as well...

Enigma is great for sure, but it is a bit boring to use on every char and the stats on bramble are just so good :). Maybe with bramble (+50% poison dam) and 3-piece trang's (-25% poison res) you can mainly kill with poison damage and not rely on CE that much. I haven't tried this (cannot afford bramble yet) Maybe you could test this Dbrunsky? ;)

Nice vid! I run this gear setup on my necro too. I would go as far as to say max block is much much more survivability than spirit + revives. I kept dying on my 125fcr spirit setup (yep I suck or something) and almost never die running max block. And nice trying out the amp-only strategy. I think it's probably slightly superior, but I've switched to using the ole LR, nova, amp, CE. Just since I just find it makes the gameplay more fun (less CE spam) and doesn't increase my runtimes much. Anyways great vid. Always love discussing pitnecro. Also hate to say it, but you gotta change "then" to "than" in the title :P.

Just build an homunculus psn necro on d2r. I wanted something different then the standard all-round caster set-up (shako, mara, enigma, hoto, spirit, arach, 2xsoj,trangs and eth treks) and the necro excels in that. Also got a +3nova white wand for the variation and I like it.

I'm still trying to build in ladder my fire act 2 build merc. Dragon armor, Obedience wep for cheap or Phoenix for end game build. Fort wep if you want that defense proc and still have some high dps. Infinity obviously plug and plays anywhere. Now the weapon is interchangeable just like the helm. Using Gface/andys or dream for holy shock dps. And to me I'll just give him might or holy freeze depending. Since I'm running an orb sorc, I'm making him might for his own dps. I was wondering since there isnt a video yet on this build, if like would you want to try it out? Just a fun suggestion of course

I like this build. It requires different mindset compare to playing, say, light sorc. And also it is good (in terms of gameplay), because we use 3 skills here. I can remember Path of Exile where most of the builds is about to max single skill... not even close in terms of gameplay to this one.

@@LaddRusso91 Its on my list to try with plugY. Likely defaulting to grief PB plus amp with maxed bone armor. Learn to love your curses. Or you can still do max CE but that loses the feel IMO. You can synergize bone armor with wall and prison, run a storm shield for max block (or a Phoenix for damage), a fort, laying of hands, an Andy's, fill res or AR with other slots. Safety amulets might be great especially with Phoenix. Between amp to hurt most everything and lifetap to keep you healed it would be kind of sloggy but doable. Grab either a might or HF merc, give them a pride then go. You could do pretty much any high end runeword, not sure on ias frames for a necro, but even like a 3 shael 3 ber PB would be fine. Might need a demon limb for enchant to fix AR. edit: You do not get lower than 10fpa, so honestly probably ebotd CB or CS. That means no blocking though, zerker might be better. edit2: Not sure if you can switch to a beast turn into a bear then switch to a 6 shael pb, but that gets you 4fpa. No way to get to 4 without 6 shael. You can also do something like x shael y ber and play with IAS to get you 7 or less after turning I to a bear, just played with the calculator.

What do you think about a poison/fishymancer doing uber? I was just thinking 20 in nova and synergies 20 and 18 in skele /masterier, 5 in revive and CE. 1 into everything else. With plus skills gear, Beast for DPS and Act2 Merc with Obdeince/Might and a few summon gcs/pnb. I just didn't see how it couldn't work. Especially since summon necro is about +skills items, Beast and enigma. Psn nova wont do anything to ubers of course but I just didn't want to have to respec if I'm doing uber alone anyway. ANYONE has any intake? on maybe gear or anything

Corpse Explosion dmg is 50% fire 50% physical. So you lower monsters fire res for more corpse explosion dmg. You are correct it does nothing for psn res

My skeletons are level 45 with a shrine boost. After I summon I switch over to Beast runeword for fanaticism There isn't an area that I can't do players 8. I never use a potion and my skeletons never die

Only differences i woud make personally is take off Infinity for insight on merc and use clay golem instead. I can use lower resists to hurt fire resistances for corpse explosion. Then use clay golems as they have huge amounts of health and have a slow on hit attack so they help with crowd control particularly on bosses where it is slightly slower to kill enemies with a poison necro. This build wins for style points i think necro looks silly holding a kite shield.

If you wanted crowd control, you can use a defensive a2 merc, the infinity plus amp means enemies die faster to the merc and everything else is wrecked by the CE(physical and fire damage increase), using an iron golem means you don’t lose mana and can still go fast

defence stat has nothing to do with corpse explosion corpse explosion is a 100% hit spell (like all spells) defence in d2 works as evasion for physical hits the lower defence stat does help the merc (and the irongolem) with hitting its target so its still good

3 socket body armor. Jah Ith Ber runes in that order and you're good to go. Most people like to use an archon plate but there's a lot of debate about which to use depending on your build.
