Ive owned too many bikes to list, from 50cc to 1200cc. When I first seen the Grom in real life it was bigger "taller" than what I was expecting. For the longest time I was thinking the Grom was much smaller than what it really is. I can reach 60-65ish mph for top speed. My highest local speed limit is 45mph so this works perfect for me. It can hold 50-55mph easy. I ride my Grom more than any other bike that I have in my garage. PLUS for 3$ you can travel around 100miles lol. The Grom is a great bike and once you realize how versatile it can be on and off road just makes it even better. I'm approaching my 2k mile mark soon and I love this bike. I purchased a 2015 Grom (black) with 600miles on it and many mods for around $2500. This is a great bike for me

To clarify.. Compared to larger motorcycles...yes, the Grom is slow. Compared to other bikes of the same size...no, the Grom is NOT slow. And you shouldn't have to justify your choices to anyone but yourself. If you're influenced by what others think about what you ride, you either need to grow a spine and stand up for your decisions, or eliminate them from your life. You're never going to be happy if you live your life according to what others think.

So for those are complainers, the grom are slow, do your homework before start to complaining....

Well i switched the grom from a 115cc yamaha scooter and it felt a lot more faster. Plus i am very light so the bike can make 0-50km (0-30mph) in 2.2 secs. Accelaration is perfect for me and i love it. Yes it is slow but when you move from a scooter it feels fast. It actually can accelarate better than other 125s until 80kmh (50mph)

According to folks who have ridden them both, the new very agile and lightweight Honda CB300R rides and handles like a somewhat bigger and much more powerful Grom. Still not a rocket, but quick up to 65 and with a top speed over 90 mph. Some folks with mechanical ability are sticking used CB300 engines into used Groms. That gives around 25 HP to the light Grom and serious performance for about the price of a new 125. Definitely not for beginners. Me ? When I get my Grom it will be stock and it will be for backroad areas that are not suitable or fun on a 1000.

Is it "slow" on the twisties compared to any other bike? Will it have to try to overtake other bikers on the twisties? Depends on both riders abilities? Slow from A to B on straight flat or hilly roads, YES.. But maybe not so much in general. Many bicycle riders are held up by motorcycles on tight curves and sharp bends. PS I have FJR, Grom, and BMW1150

Nobody buys a grom for speed. They buy it for the fun factor. I will say if you’re not a social person do not buy a grom or clone. Everybody and their mother will be stopping to talk to you about it. Even the old guys will honk and give u a thumbs up. Everybody loves them. The other awesome thing is you can ride it where you can’t ride bigger bikes. Reason for that is some people think it’s a mini bike. I bought a clone and I was surprised at the size. I genuinely was expecting it to be smaller. I’m 190 swapping mine now to get the 5 speed.

I bought my grom brand new last year, it's my first bike, I bought it to start and have fun, I did do a big bore 3 months/ 2000km into ownership, I did it because I got a great deal on the kit, and I like tinkering/ working on my vehicles. I bought an 1100 sport tourer a month ago for a big bike. I still love my grom, it is still comparatively slow, but it is a riot and a blast to ride, and it's funny to see the reactions I get on the road, me being 6'4" on the grom :p Do I regret it, or the money I've put into it? Not at all, I knew it was always going to be slow, but, it's fun to ride, and easy to work on
@cblancin72445 жыл бұрын
Amazing how much people overlook the main question they have to ask themselves when buying anything 'what am I wanting? Speed? Comfort? Etc.' What is the philosophy of use but instead they want to just compare it to bigger bikes. It's apples to vodka shots people, it's a fun little bike or commuter it was never advertised or implied it was a track beast.

i wanted a grom because it is a street legal mini bike. when i was younger there was the ysr 90s or whatever size they were but they were the same street legal mini bikes. there are tons of mini bikes but rarely are they street legal. i rode mine for 4 years straight in cali and then sadly i lost power one day riding to the lake and some white smoke was coming out at around 27k miles or so. i wouldnt mind putting a 250 or 300 in it now but then its about the same price as a new grom. so not sure if i want a new grom. or just to fix the motor and keep it as it is. though i wouldnt mind having a 250 or 300 grom. just because then its a more of a one off mini bike. i loved it in cali though. i lived in a city with a lot of traffic and it made lane splitting super easy. later man.

the thing about pimping it out with a 300 or 250 swap is dude you have a 250 or 300 minibike.. trust me if I was balling hard I would already have a 300 grom or at least the 250 swap.. there are positives to it... freeway number 1... but ya I got mine used for 2000 to do the swap is probably like 3k or more if I don't do the work myself and if I can even find donor bike cheap ect.. so yes its really hard to spend that kind of cash on a bike that I got for half the cost of the upgrade.. but then it would be a pimped out mini bike that is capable of rolling on the freeway and keeping up with traffic ect though mines rolls at 60 easily on flats with my weight and 50 uphills... honda should have made it 250 6 speed option also... the bad thing besides the expensive motor upgrades is really I don't like the body style of it im more of a sports bike look like the old Yamaha ysr. honda lacks with body option also. and then that tyga kit is expensive!!! lol though the big bikes the mods are a lot more money... so you can pimp out a grom still kinda on the cheapside compared to trying to pimp out that 1000cc..but what options for mini bikes do we really have in America... 0 you got a Japanese grom.. or the Chinese knockoffs which I don't really consider true alternatives to the grom.. all other small cc are crappy scooters... which are a European thing not so much an American thing... the companies fail. part is also because the California carb law... if not for that shit we could have a lot more options in America..
