I don't know about you guys, but when I first set my eyes on the CB600F Hornet, I fell in love instantly. I for one think it's one of the best looking bikes on this planet. I own one too. Hoping to switch onto the CB900 Hornet soon, those twin high rise exhausts are just...beautiful...

I bought a 900 last year and love it, everyone who owns one says the same. When it came out the press called it boring? In reality it's a stunning road bike, and the build quality is excellent.

Can't agree more strongly. I have the CB600F-6 and it's a very proud looking machine. Vibrates at about 5500 but then it is a straight 4. Perhaps a carb sync is required. Having that CB600 made me go out and get 2 CB900F-5s (why 2? - as pointed out to me, the prices were most reasonable and with each less than 3k miles, I'd have been silly not to have got the second!) Again, Honda have made the 2 best looking machines. Why they stopped producing them (pre '07 design) is beyond me.

I got myself a used fazer two years ago now, and it's quite the catch : never failed to start even when riding through winter (and sleeping outside), despite the "disco" looks on the front side, it's a pretty amazing bike, and I was able to have some fun at red lights with bigger/newer bikes ;)

I'm an R1 rider, got an old '98 Fazer with 40k on it as a winter hack last year. Very impressed with it, you can feel the headbanger Yamaha DNA in it, for a glorified commuter it has a lot of soul. And I'm right with him about the centre stand on the Hornet ; I owned a CBR 6 in the 90's and all my mates used to take the piss out of me with my 'sports tourer' CBR6 with its centre stand.

It DOES have a fuel warning lamp as well. It glows orange when you are getting low. You cant see it in these camera shots. Also, I worked as a courier for 2 years on one of these and 135mph on the honda not alot of hard work (but it isnt pleasant either) and certainly 80 is no hassle. get a grip mate.

As you can see from my profile pic i used to have a '98' 600 Hornet. Only performance mods i did was a full Arrow system and a retune of the carbs. Oh and a gold metalfake topped Jordan 'Buzzin Hornets' paint job😎 It would easily keep up with 600 sports bikes to about 120mph from the lights. Could never get past them, but easy within spitting distance. I used to ride out with half a dozen guys every week and they were all shocked how quick it was for a naked. Rode it daily for 3 years and raced many other bikes. Pissed all over a fazer (i knew the guy and he challenged my to a race lol) Definately would do more than 120mph! I was chasing the lads from Windsor to Portsmouth and maxed it at 155 on the clock (so probably closer to 140/5) Was seriously hard work though and couldn't stay there for more than a few minutes as i would have been peeled off it🤣🤣

The fazer does wheelie...in fact I find it to be a very easy and smooth stunt bike. Had one for just over a year. I did second gear clutch ups.
@dumbleduke42253 жыл бұрын
You can wheelie a fazer but the chap above doing second gear clutch ups might have more experience and changed gearing because to clutch mine up in second you need a lot of revs and the speed it comes up the back brake is a bit spongy for preventing you 12 o’clocking it

I'm having such a hard time with this choice. Full license next month, I already have a Hornet but I've always dreamed of a FZR and keep seeing them at amazing prices. Feeling like I might wind up settling on having both but if anyone's got an outright yes or no answer for me that would be sound! I did think the Fazer was meant to have a slightly lower seat height than the Hornet though

A question about the exhaust for any owners/previous owners: Does the height of the exhaust affect the pillion? As in can they burn their legs/trousers if not seated properly? It looks as if their legs would be touching it.
@wody219 жыл бұрын
+CptFriggerJizz My Hornet has the stock exhaust and the pillion's leg can touch it easily (to tell you the truth, the leg/trousers will always be very near/next to that section). But the stock exhaust has a "huge" outter protector / heat shield thingy bit, therefore it won't get very hot. IMHO it wont burn the pillions legs / trousers. What is the case with an aftermarket exhaust? I am not sure - I think that must be a different story.
@volante86578 жыл бұрын
+CptFriggerJizz You can touch the protector without gloves even when the engine is reasonably warm ;)

Good choice. But if it's anything like the 900 you'll be wanting a new exhaust. Especially since the 600 only has the one can. Dangerously quiet Imo

I have owned and rode several Hornet and Fazer 600s in my line of work and you can't go wrong with either bike. The Hornet has amazing handling has next to no midrange is very tough reliable in general, the main down side is it is a pretty poor tourer as the tank range is poor and a touch buzzy. The Fazer is in my opinion a little better in terms of all round ability the engine feels like a bigger motor than a 600 has great midrange and feel great touring bike but is let down by poor headlight, expensive parts like battery, plugs and the build quality is not great the exhausts in particular.

I've ridden both bikes on track and the Fazer is the better bike on the limit. It will ground everything out and move about a fair bit but it never becomes alarming and is quite predictable. In contrast, the Hornet is much more stable but the front end often feels like it is about to tuck, mid-turn. They are very different bikes but both excellent, in their own way.
@N269 Жыл бұрын
@@AnEssentialQuality Which year Hornet? I can see the '98/'99 being a little more aggressive in the turns, but the 2000->2004 should be better with 17" wheel, and the 2005/2006 having a little better rebound with their progressive USDs.
