The HORRIBLE Reason Zira Really Scarred Kovu

Well, obviously, she was pissed off although technically the scar lining was not very well in the right place where she scratched him. It should’ve been more scratches than just one scratch crossing his eye. If she expected that to make him evil that literally never would’ve worked, and she clearly didn’t know Scars original story. I mean the lion guard did a good job giving us the full details to what made him evil. Showing that not everybody is born evil. But however, evil is created. If only Scar had gotten help sooner, there is a possibility he never would’ve been the way he was but then again the whole story wouldn’t go well with the whole hamlet reference

The only reason why Zira scratch Kovu in the eye which leave a scar because she was very angry at him as Zira blames Kovu for the death of his older brother Nuka despite the fact that Nuka brought all this on himself by chasing Simba just to get his mother's (Zira)attention. Beside Kion's story is very different to Kovu as the only reason why he too got a scar because of Ushari's bite which the venom remain inside Kion as he was struggling to control both his anger and the roar.

This is a very interesting concept although what debunks this theory for me is that when she saw Kovu's scar she looked shocked or surprised at how much it looked like scar's if she did this intentionally she wouldn't of had that look on her face and she wasn't the best mother figure to begin with so I view it as just losing control of her anger or going off on him and his scar just happened to look like Scar's

Zira was hoping that scaring Kovu would bring some of the evil of Scar back into Kovu, but it failed because got to know Simba and his daughter, and Kovu became good, and with the help of Simba's daughter brought the two prides together.

I believe zira gave Kovu the scar for being a traitor to her pride which is why kovu feels alone after being exiled by simba too because simba thinks he’s bad too when kovu actually isn’t so the scar had no effect on him since that was way before the lion guard also there was no powers in both movies which made a lot more sense than the tv show, tv show didn’t make a lot of sense so I don’t see the show as canon since certain characters don’t act like themselves from the movies

I actually dont think she intended to give kovu a scar, I mean she literally gasps right afterwards. So I think she was just mad. Her judgement sucks, but what can be expected of a lioness that worshipped the king of gaslighting. Like how simba didnt do anything and scar told simba that he killed his own father, zira is out here telling kovu, who had nothing to do with nukas death if we're being honest, was at fault for that particular event. Zira either doesnt see her own flaws and mistakes, or... idk man, "you killed your own brother!" Why would she be angry about that from kovu anyway, i mean she was straight up trying to make him similar to scar, who also "killed his own brother." So maybe she just wanted to spout out that similarity, or is just a narc that doesnt now much better. Honestly im more interested in figuring out how she got the notch on her ear, and if the dark stripe on her back is just a patterning or is significant somehow, she is the only lioness with that marking. Maybe its from lack of nutrition, so her fur is shorter there, or maybe some kind of injury?

I think in this instance she blames Kovu because his inaction is what bolstered Nuka to go after Simba. She yells to “get him (Simba)” but Kovu turns away So Kovu did nothing and Zira sees him doing nothing as a betrayal.

Already been said but I'll reiterate: Kovu had the mark but not the venom. Both Scar and Kion were bitten by snakes and pumped with venom while the fangs left marks. The venom didn't kill them, just clouded their judgement and made them more aggressive/rashes. Kovu was only scratched by Zira which made him look like Scar but nothing more.

Lion Guard doesn't make any sense to that. In the original Lion King he was just evil because of his deep jealousy of not becoming king. The venom part is just made up and it doesn't even make any sense. Lion Guard is just a silly series of having the roar of the elders which doesn't make any sense in the Lion King universe. Kion never existed in the movie, Kiara was the only cub period.

Well, seeing Simbas Pride was made BEFORE the Lion Guard and all the theories and whatnot that come with it, (if it wasn't accidental (which it was)) i think she did it to make Kovou look more like Scar to remind him where he belongs and who he is meant to follow.

I think its just so theres a visual distinction between the "good guy" lions and the "bad guy" lions. They also have sharper shape language on the "villain" lions while the "hero" lions have rounder shapes. Its just age old artistic symbolism.

The mark of evil scar was only a scar after a snake bit a lion. The snakes bite had venom which poisons the mind of a lion making them not know the difference between good and evil. The scar that Zira gave to Kovu was Zira using her claws which had no venom. She just did it because she was mad at Kovu for Nuka's death

Am I the only one who wants a serie or movie in which Kovu and Kion are being feared for their scars? That someone else tries to get them down just because the legacy of the scars. It would be awesome to see both of them work together to protect their family and themselves. I do think that Zira wanted to make Kovu evil with this deed. Like shown in the Lion Guard, she doesn't know the whole story about Scars past. Only the basics, the big lines. She needed an evil lion like scar and this was her only way. I don't think it was only a punishment. The way she scratched him, would have left more than one scratch, just like with Kion. But Kovu only got one. It was both a punishment and a last resort.

I think that it's possible that Zira struck Scar, just as she had Kovu. In the expression on Zira's face when she first saw Kovu's scar after striking him, I got the distinct impression that Zira had gone through that experience at least once before.

Zira is and always had been a terrible mother. She force her sons and daughter but mostly Kovu to follow an evil lion, never asking what her children wanted. I think she gave him the scar to remind Simba and the pride of Scar. They could not look at Kovu without seeing Scar, and Simba would always have to watch his back, or with Scar right in front of him, Simba would drive Kovu away, and not welcome with the Outsiders, he would later come back and kill Simba so he would not be alone, and the pride would be led by an killer! And even if she was still an Outsider, she had her revenge against both of them and had avenged Scar.
