I doubt Thrawn could have assembled a fleet, aside from whatever is left of 7th fleet. @@supremefankai5480 Unless Thrawn was able to find and conquer a system with intact mining facilities, ore refineries, major component fabrication facilities, a shipyard capable of producing imperial designs, and a trained workforce I just don't see how he could produce even light cruisers or frigates from the ships he had at Lothal. That isn't because Thrawn isn't smart and capable. He's both of those things. Its a case of having to build a complex industrial base from scratch with limited resources, tools, expertise, and manpower. Or more simply, and in the parlance of the 1632/Ring of Fire series of books its a case of having to build the tools, to build the tools, to build the tools,... to build all the components that go into whatever it is you are trying to build. Even something as simple as a rifle musket, a pocket knife, or a ink pen requires lots of specialized tools, parts, components, and materials. How much worse is a star-ship. Somehow I doubt Dave is going to go as far as take Ahsoka out of the Star Wars galaxy and more or less start his own Star Wars universe. That takes place in some far off galaxy. If anything, I think he is trying to retcon a lot of legends content and bring it into the new cannon. Like for example doing his version of Heir to the Empire. There is so much New Republic content that can be explored from the old cannon, I think that's Dave's goal. To tell more of those stories, and in most cases introduce those stories to a new generation.

@doorhandledestroyer It's what was stated in the video a few times about the Vong. As someone else replied, it would take more like 2 million years to get between major galaxies travelling slower than light. There is a minor galaxy currently being eaten by the Milky way that I guess you could get to in less than 1000 years if you were already on the outskirts of our galaxy. As far as i'm aware, this isn't what's happening in the Star Wars galaxy.

@preservetheunion9258
@preservetheunion9258 11 ай бұрын
I think that they must have still been able to move faster than the speed of light, but relatively not that much faster. In early days of hyperspace travel, according to legends ofc, before the peoples of the galaxy managed to reverse-engineer the hyperspace drive technology from the Rakatans after their Infinite Empire fell. Just before that in galactic history, other sentients (including humans) had already developed some means of faster-than-light travel, but it was relatively slow. That’s about all we know about it. We don’t even really know if those types of drives were hyperdrives or even used hyperspace. After other species reverse-engineered it (for human worlds it originated from Corellia) the true hyperdrive was first made accessible to the various species of the galaxy. These are the hyperdrives we are used to, and they are capable of transport at many thousands of times lightspeed, which is how they can travel across the entire, 120,000 ly across, Star Wars galaxy in about a day. These speeds were what enabled galactic civilization to flourish under the Old Republic. Prior to these developments, which were essentially stolen from the Rakata, FTL travel was possible through some means, but I would guess that it took a prohibitive amount of energy to do so, even if it used hyperspace, and made it unfeasible with technology at the time. Except for the highly advanced Rakatans, whose other technologies the sentients of the galaxy would also reverse-engineer to create many of the technologies that are still vital to the modern galaxy. There is massive technological stagnation in many areas in the galaxy, with very slow development into new tech, because most of what they had was invented by the Rakatans. It took tens of thousands of years after that for other sentients to understand it well enough to start making significant improvements. Early, pre-Rakatan hyperdrives/FTL technologies were primitive and would still take thousands of years to cross the intergalactic void. It’s probably true that the dovin basals of the Vong could do the same without a gravity source to lock onto. Being able to distort gravity, and therefore space, could theoretically enable you to ‘move’ faster than light, without actually moving. By bending space in some manner like an Alqubierre drive does, you can travel at FTL without breaking the speed of light. But, without a significant gravitational field to lock onto and ‘pull’ toward, they were only capable of accelerating at much slower rates, meaning their maximum speed was vastly slower than what we usually think of for FTL travel. It’s not really explained what the key differences are, because it’s probably not entirely clear to the characters in-universe either, other than the Vong. It does seem heavily implied though, that the are more than one way to accomplish FTL travel and the hyperdrive simply happens to be the dominant technology. It’s faster, easier, and safer than most other similar technologies in the universe.

Even in Legends the Empire never really died. IIRC we even have content 100+ years past Yavin, and yet everyone still wants to be the Empire. It absolutely makes sense tho imo, we even have perfect examples of it here on our planet Example 1: Rome Rome united so much of Europe and was so imposing, that even the turks tried to claim themselves as being part of rome... MULTIPLE times. Sultanate of Rum, Ottomans due to right of Conquest etc etc. Example 2: Persia(And for the same reason Egypt) Both Empires have been ruled by "foreigners" for more of their history than actually being ruled by their own demographic. Why? Because they were just so prestigious. Noone cared about a new fledgeling empire if you could be THE Egypt, THE Persia. Truth is, we just find solace in being attributed with previous milestones. If we can claim ancestorship to something "great" then we subconsciously elevate ourselves. Just as how people wanted to be Egypt because "Everyone knows and looks up to egypt, noone gives a shit about the empire of Nileandia", everyone wants to be the Empire, because everyone knows it was a major entity that spanned a CRAZY area, while the republic especially towards the end and during the new republic was VERY corrupt and Galactic Core focused

Yuuzhan Vong use weapon wich is essentially magnetohydrodynamic canon, stream of molten rocks/metal accelerated to relativistic speed, it is said in legends that this weapon can melt mandalorian iron, aka beskar, it means that electrostatic shields of Grysk would be incapable to defend they ships from even single shot of this weapon, and even they armor, using partially beskar would be useless as well. Yuuzhan Vong operate massive swarms of star fighters, coordinated by some sort of semi-hive mind. About defenses, they generate literall mini black holes to soak up ridiculous ammounts of damage, granted, they couldn't cover they entire ships with those, then considering Grysk amazing control over they rockets they could probably hit Yuuzhan Vong vessels... I didn't really think about it when rebels ended, but looking back Thrawn and Ezra ending up in the unknown regions doesn't really make a lot of sense. I suppose it is possible, but given how long they've been gone, the unknown regions are too close. Thrawn and Ezra have been gone for what 10 years? Chimera & 7th fleet should have been able to hyper back to known space, even if they had to make lots of short hops and run sections at high sub-light speeds to find a route. And even if Chimera suffered hyper-drive damage, it carries hyper-capable parasite craft (shuttles, fighters, transports...). Not to mention Chimera's comm systems should be able to send a message to outposts on the edge of known space from the unknown regions. So thinking about it like that the purgil jumping to another galaxy makes a lot more sense. As for who or what is in this other galaxy, we'll just have to see.

Thoughts: We don't know if it was just the Chimaera that was dragged along by the Purgil. We saw space whales attacking multiple ISDs at Lothal. Could the 3 drives and ring assembly mean we get a reference to Outbound Flight where several Star Destroyers of the 7th Fleet match to the ring to return? Perhaps through the hanger bays latching onto the ring itself? The Eye of Sion immediately made me think of "The Eye of Palpatine" and the bulk of a full Imperial Sector fleet returning would certainly be a "super weapon" on that scale of destructive capability especially with Thrawn in charge of that firepower. It would fit the original Thrawn Trilogy scale to have him causing a galactic scale crisis with 6 main Star Destroyers and smaller (which is all that seems to remain) ships provided by the Imperial Remnants. Combine that with the Demilitarization of the New Republic, and it would also explain why it was never really brought up. “ No one wants to admit that it only took a few Star Destroyers to spark a crisis when pirates have at least 1 SSD” For those of us who don’t follow the New Canon religiously… Yes. You read that right. The Zann Consortium got sorta-revived and reworked as part of the Aftermath novels. The Annihilator has once again been taken over and turned into a stupidly-well armed mobile hub for pirates to stand up for themselves and whatever they can steal, now under the designation “Liberty’s Misrule”. The finale of the last Mandalorian season was meant to tie into that pirate kingdom getting big enough to make moves.

I have a theory that travel from the SW galaxy to the new galaxy is much easier than vice versa. I think of it like the Spanish discovery of the Philippines. The Spanish travelled across the Pacific from the Americas following powerful ocean currents, and when they tried to go back, their ships physically could not travel back in that direction. These ocean currents are one of the reasons Asia never discovered the Americas. It took another 60 years before these Spaniards found a way back, however, they travelled west circumnavigating the whole planet just to get back. This would explain why Ezra and Thrawn haven't returned to the main galaxy.

One way to speed things up would be to introduce hyperspace vortex's. basically a point in hyperspace that acts like a wormhole reduceing the distance from A to B and the maps change over time. As the starting system and the end system may not be the same systems in the correct alignment after a thousands of years of galactic rotation. in order to find a specialized vortex in hyperspace. On a snooker table you have to line up the the shot sometimes in the opposite direction of where the target ends up being.

OR she could get with Zeb again and use ceremonies from his people to find a path, like they did in rebels. The vong were really cool and scary as hell, so I hope they can bring them in to new canon. But I also hope they fix some thing which made my eyes roll. I can't recall what they were as it's been decades since I read those books, but I do recall some things went too far to try to make them viable as a real threat.

Just a minor point of contention for me, i don't think they "stole" that last hyper drive, i think elsbeth was using inside connections to have the hyperdrives built for the eye of sion and had those same people disguise their intended use with fake documentation as for some new republic ships. As someone who's worked made to order manufacturing it would be a pretty simple thing to do requiring very few people to know the truth. As a side note I'de really love another video on why there are still formal imperials all over thr new republic, a lot of th shows detractors are just sort of writing that off as bad writing or stupid of the new republic not to get rid of every potential loyalist like that would even be feasible let alone actually a good thing

@@IvanKinkle The mesopelagic zone is a layer of the ocean that extends from 200 to 1,000 meters (660-3,300 feet) below the surface. It's also known as the twilight zone because it's located between the epipelagic zone, which receives the most light, and the bathypelagic zone, which receives no light. The mesopelagic zone is home to many bioluminescent organisms, including bristlemouths, blobfish, bioluminescent jellyfish, and giant squid. The mesopelagic zone occupies about 60% of the planet's surface and about 20% of the ocean's volume. It's a layer of water that stretches around the whole globe. The ocean water column is made up of five zones: The sunlight zone (epipelagic) The twilight zone (mesopelagic) The midnight zone (bathypelagic) The abyssal zone (abyssopelagic) The hadal zone (trenches) The hadal zone in the Pacific ocean is so cold and the pressure is so great that it's impossible to see anything in the area. It is harder to breach this zone than it is to bring humans to Mars and actually colonize it. That would be easier than reaching these depths.

Doing that would be a good way to continue the sith after the death of palpatine, and could be a threat to the galaxy in the new movie(show?) they are making with Rey as the mc, as after palps death there isn't much for the Jedi to have as an enemy.

In the end when Thrawn was departing from Admiral Ar’Alani literally made me cry and tear when she told him someone was gonna get you up on your feet again thrawn and he said perhaps it will be you and she said that she was afraid they wouldn’t see each other again litteraly made me sad like… i don’t know why but made me sad bc the thing is that Ar’alani was like she kinda had a 6th sense as a theory and she knew that the ascendancy was in a great chaos and she feared something unwanted was going to happen but i really want them to add this story that Timothy Zahn created, also add Ar’alani to the show please because thrawn has to reunite with his people because uniting makes them stronger together to fight the enemy the grysks please i mean she needs to appear at least who knows maybe in ahsoka or mando verse the mandalorian bc Ar’alani was 1 of my fav characters in the book of thrawn plus Dave pls don’t forget the true purpose of thrawn to protect his people please… and i really wanted Timothy to fight for the rights of his character Y’all i just don’t understand what the point is about Thrawns duty. I mean he is supposed and also designed to protect his people at all cost and it doesn’t matter how, now he returns as heir to the empire to avenge and make his enemies pay the price for defeating him??? I mean what’s Dave Filoni’s point bc i don’t get it, Timothy Zahn had a good idea to design thrawn in that way but i just don’t understand the point i mean thrawn doesn’t have time to waste with rebels and his enemies he’s supposed to protect his people not fight whoever comes in front of him. What i mean is the grysk will be a threat and a darkness in the galaxy that ahsoka also sensed that a dark thing was coming which can be the grysk so thrawn is logical enough to see that the empire fails and they are not strong to defend the chiss and ascendancy against the grysk so he will ally with someone who is powerful right? Or just waste his time like that now can someone explain to me this logical way? Because i read the books of thrawn and i kinda feel like i understand the whole thing…

I hope they don't use the cannon (disney's) lore when traveling through hyper space. in the disney version they can hyper space into an atmosphere, where as in legends, you can't. The reason is simple. gravity wells pull ships out of hyper space. this prevents ships from crashing into planets. Or they get pull out of hyperspace near a black hole but far enough away form one they can escape. In disney's cannon, if you get pulled out of hyperspace near a black hole, you would already be in the event horizon, and doomed.

You keep assuming that the show is shifting to the other galaxy, as opposed to them just retrieving Thrawn (or just opening a 'stargate' to let him come through on his own) and opening a pathway for the Yuuzhan Vong (or some other new threat if they don't want to pay royalties) to come to the Star Wars galaxy. They're not going to just abandon the setting, and thinking they are is absolutely ridiculous.

Oh, but, Allen...FTL travel in the Star Wars universe means using a hyperdrive to access hyperspace. Which, as we know, is a different spacial dimension to the physical universe that Star Wars beings reside in. I think that means that the reduction of spacial distance is what determines the increased speed. Further...i think that hyperspace largely depends on where the entrance and exit points are, and whether or not those points are made by use of a hyperdrive or something closer to the world between worlds gateways. Using a hyperdrive, you're essentially boring into hyperspace from wherever you are and finding the closest safe tunnel to follow. But those tunnels are like travelling offroad compared to on a highway. The highway in this comparison is a hyperspace gateway, constructed somehow or cleared of obstruction to allow - i suspect - faster travel over greater distances. And this is like what the starmap in Ahsoka was showing with the Pergyll circle. Its like the map is saying "take the Pergyll expressway". I suppose it could take just as long to get from A to B whether you took the Purgyll expressway or just ran blind through hyperspace...but something tells me that if you take the Purgyll expressway, you have to enter it at the start; there arent any on-ramps. Which would make the blind hyperspace comparison more like trying to off-road all the way from A to B instead of that nice, smooth, clear expressway. Given that space and time are intrinsically connected, i dont think its that much of a stretch to say that hyperspace wouldnt JUST distort space, either. Hyperspace's SPACETIME would be different to the physical dimension. I suspect that it is the sort of place where "everything is happenening everywhere, all at once" and that the world between worlds is between the physical and hysperspace dimensions. And it would be through the world between worlds, which bridges the two dimensions different spacetimes, that the purgyll expressway operates. I mean, i could be wrong on any count. We still have no idea how hyperdrives even work 😂. Im just thinking "out loud"; please, no one take me too seriously 😅
