The Horror of YouTube Shorts

Today I find out how bad KZbin Shorts really are compared to TikTok and Instagram Reels by watching KZbin Shorts for 1 hour straight on an account that's subbed to ZERO KZbinrs! These KZbin Shorts made my brain melt and are way worse than Funny TikToks or funny mediashare videos but I did this for science to test the KZbin Shorts algorithm!

The real reason why it never changed is because the algorithm doesnt update until you refresh the page/app, then it gives you tailored content. Also, at least for me the way i got sucked into shorts was because it would recommend me shorts from people im subbed to and then it would slowly show more unrelated videos. For anyone that needs it, you can get youtube to stop showing you shorts by choosing "not interested" on every short it shows you.

Ever since short form content became mainstream my mental health has only degraded. I fucking hate short form content and only ever get upset when i end up endlessly scrolling through shorts. I genuinely hope that youtube crashes and all shortform content gets removed. It has only been a net negative on the world.

KZbin shorts algorithm caters by what you click on more than retention, if you want more niche content(in my case I watch a lot of guitar content) either search and click on shorts with the niche in the title, or only click on the shorts that pop up with the stuff you want. Weird it's not retention based, but definitely whatever you click is what you get from what I've seen.

if you want shorts to show you tailored content, its probably best that the first short you watch is tailored towards you. on my yt shorts, i nearly always get stuff related to music, my personal niche.
