I miss the strange house days, this is what the horrors will always be to me. In saying that I really respect the direction their music has taken and that they are playing how they want to.

"Jack the Ripper" is a song by English musician Screaming Lord Sutch, released as a 7" single in the UK and Germany in 1963 on Decca

@JoshuaRFox Wrong. "Jack the Ripper" is a 1960s song by Screaming Lord Sutch. It's been a popular cover for garage-influenced bands, notably the White Stripes, The Black Lips, The Horrors, The Gruesomes, The Fuzztones, etc., etc.

i was on this concert, only time ive seen the horrors sadly. but it was one of the best live acts i have ever been to. so much energy on stage that you could taste it. needless to say, i bought the album as soon as i got back home :3

You can't really top the old sleazy grind of the pioneers of this type of post-punk, (Birthday Party especially) but I give these guys props for doing it as well as they do.

@PaintedTeleportation I am well aware of that song. I suppose the end of it sounds a bit like this, but just because of one song I wouldn't really call the two bands similar. When you look at songs like "Siberian Breaks" or "Someone's Missing", the styles are completely different than even the Horrors newest stuff.

the first time i ever heard of them was june or july 2006 in i-D magazine's Horror issue. They looked really emo to me too, but then i downloaded some of their music they sounded old school punk. im so glad they finally came out with an album :D

Nice, its such a different song to listen to after listening to these versions. Its almost happy, horrors do a good job but ive been listening to the white stripes for a long time.

Actually it's a cover. "Jack the Ripper" is by Screaming Lord Sutch, written/performed back in 1965. You can search him out on KZbin.

Actually, it's a Screaming Lord Sutch cover. White Stripes just happened to cover it too. The original song was written in the 60s.

saw them live in oxford. played dreary shit (really well...) all the way through - gave up sat at the back, and then they did their encore - the place vibrated and it was fucking amazing - but half the people left..

theres something very nick cave about this being played at that speed. when I saw the horrors a couple of years ago in belfast they played this even slower, not even half the speed. one of the best live bands ever

They're really one of the cooler moderndays bands. They have that originality that I miss in most moderndays bands. They are bizarre, but not over the top and not too polished either. Yes yes, very interesting band. Like this song a lot also.

He was in The Birthday Party originally who were quite possible the best band ever and now he plays with The Bad Seeds and Grinderman and you should go away and listen to him because his music is incredible and he writes amazing lyrics
