The Horse and the Infant (FULL animatic) | EPIC the musical

regretting that i just didn't initially commit to making the full animatic for the entire song haha
tbh i was kinda at the stage of "finishing it to just finish it" LOL but since i was on vacation i thought might as well! fun fact: did you know I uploaded part 1 on my departing flight and started part 2 on my return flight? (￣︶￣)
other thoughts:
- sorry for inconsistent penelope design LOL i never drew one
- i really wish i incorporated penelope better from 3:16 to the end (it felt better in my brain)
- zeus in the sky... i also wish i did that better but ya kno im tired
- 3:31 when i was drawing this frame i thought "he looks so bby girl here" lmao

I love all these depictions of Zeus in this song. He either appears there, as an apparition, as a formation of clouds or as you've shown here an animal but whenever lightning strikes his form is shown in the clouds as a shadowy figure.

Seeing Zeus as just an eagle throughout this instead of seeing his face appear somehow is really creative. The gods are well known to appear in front of people as all sorts of things, especially Zeus to his many many "lovers". Also I can't help but feel like Penelope appearing there on the other side of the cradle for so long was Zeus just fucking with Odysseus by making her appear there and linger that long, which I really liked the idea of actually. The gods would not be above something like that.

I'm *obsessed* with how you drew Zeus! The fact that his more human form only showed up when there was lightning, perfect for the God of the sky and _thunder._ How the eagle led him to the room was so great! He's walking through this house, doesn't know where exactly to go but trusts Zeus to lead him where this awful foe is waiting. And then when he sees that it's a baby, he also sees a ghost like figure of Penelope being maternal with the boy who will grow to an avenger. Sees how sweet she is as a person while getting the threat that if he doesn't kill the baby his wife will be killed. Zeus really twisting the knife on that one lol. I could go on with other things I loved, but the comment would get really long. Fantastic job! You should be proud of yourself, I know I am!

god, the emotion on Odyseus’s face is so good, and i also want to point out the FIGHTING SCENE??? like DAMN that was done so well, and i know for a fact they’re so difficult, i love the dynamic poses and how he’s fighting *dirty*, slicing the back of his opponent’s knees isn’t necessarily an honorable tactic but it is one a warrior of the mind would use.

DAMN, the amount of details on this animatic is off the charts! The way you should clips of just what the other did when Odysseus ordered them is pristine. Your depiction of the horse, the invasion of Troy, Zeus leading Odysseus to the Infant's room and the foreshadowing of the 'Enemy'. IT. WAS. ALL. AMAZING. The scene of Odysseus where the angles circles him and his expression as Zeus gets him to kill the infant and finally the Last line where Penelope looks Odysseus in the eyes with her holding her cheek with the line "all I can choose is whose'. Words cannot express how much I love this animatic! Everything is so well thought through. I love how you cut to the cloak and dagger tactics of the soldiers as Odysseus gives his speech to the men and then explains what they'll do. Little Ajax's mischief is just *chef's kiss* (plus Teucer's reaction😂). The way you suggest the form of Zeus while also making clear that the Eagle is his stand in. The shots and flashbacks of Penelope and Telemachus perfectly sell us on why this decision is just so hard for him (which is saying something because we could already buy that killing a literal baby is something no one should want to do). Chef's kisses and gold stars everywhere.

This is the best one i have seen so far. As many people have already said, the presentation of Zeus was fab and I loved the omen with the eagle and the serpent, the mythological accuracy is giving me life. Also, the detail in this is incredible. I love how you actually showed so much of the battle and fighting, and seeing them kill like is described in Homeric epics makes me so happy. Last thing, the last 2 minutes or so were perfect (the whole thing was perfect) but the way he stopped at Hector and Andromache's portrait was amazing, and then having him see Penelope and Telemachus standing above Astyanax as a visual representation of his options makes his desicion seem so much harder and more poignant. Overall, incredible job, 10/10 would recommend.

Even though the art in this is not as great as other animatics and does not utilize colors to set the scenes like others, but the animators ability to show clear easy to the eye scenes, express as much emotion in every scene as possible, has smooth transitions between different frames and scenes that constantly cause eye movement & and has great video production qualities like making great use of framing and perspectives that I have never seen in ANYTHING other than this. This is a totally 100% underrated. I LOVE IT.🥰🥰

The cinematography here is amazing, i absolutely love the dynamism of the fight (the introduction of the warriors is so fun and odysseus jumping into the battle and the whole choreography from 1:34 feel straight out of an anime) VS the divine intervention (amazing work on the values, everything fading to black from 1:50 until 2:28 as he enters the brightly lit chamber), Zeus being so damn ominous and only being seen through lightning is such a good representation of a god, the camera movement and lighting at 3:16 are so dramatic and intense, etc etc I'd have so much to say but you get it, this is a bloody amazing animatic and I think I've fallen in love with your work

War is just so terrible, no one wins because it breeds hatred in the loser camp. This is so heart aching to see how this whole situation is terrible for everyone. If they don't retaliate, then they accept losing people they love. But the worse is how human Odysseus is poisoned by all those decisions that poison him slowly. A young man in love endorsing the role of a soldier to protect his beloved and his people, the shoes are awfully big to fill but he does it and each and every actions he does weight in his heart. Zeus telling him the future is such a dick move, it shows so much how awful the god is towards humans and enjoy this conflict. It is so hard to watch as all hopes slip away from Odysseus as he understand he has to commit a taboo to secure is future. Odysseus is really such a complex character, the song and the animation really give him justice.
