It's also a great nod to how in some versions of the story Odysseus was encouraged to by his men because it was believed they would have favourable winds to sail by, thanks to some prophet. Okay, this absolutely destroyed me - The most brilliant depiction of this song yet. Firstly, the water showing the lyrics from 1:31 onwards is absolutely breathtaking, the transition from the meteor to the candle was absolutely GENIUS. Secondly, the colors shifting to set the mood is a beautiful sense of the violence of the situation. Thirdly; His eyes dimming, losing what humanity he has left with what he's about to do was so beautifully shown. But I think the reason your animatic in particular made me cry is the last scene. In all other animatics, Odysseus kills Hector's son all alone. In yours, everyone is there to see him throw an infant off of a building. I also love how gentle his hands looked when he finally let him drop. I've never seen an artist put so much emotion into someone's hands. I can't say it enough. Thank you for putting so much love into every animatic you do. This is some of your best work yet.

He goes on a quest to find his father and accidently crash lands on an island and starts to raid it. The local King and his Son face him in battle and Telegonus uses a poisoned spear to kill the King. EXCEPT ONE. Polites, sweet Polites, looks absolutely HORRIFIED, even though they know that's the royal palace and therefore who the baby must belong to. my GODS. you did the thing at the _walls_ . the destruction. the flames. YES. I enjoy the focus in Epic on Odysseus' personal pathos in his journey, but I *love* when animatics like this can also pan back to show the larger scale of the myth, the atmosphere surrounding that pathos, alluding to the era-defining _tragedy_ of the war, the fact that killing Astyanax is also a public act, the ultimate extinguishing of Trojan hope ... that far from just Odysseus, many more of the Greeks became monstrous throughout their decade at Troy culminating on this night, a victory for which the gods made them suffer knowing how brutal it would be. I EAT. THIS. SHIT. UP. I have far too many feelings about the Trojan War, okay?

The transition from Astyanax to Telemachus was so smooth. Penelope looks like the absolute ✨QUEEN✨ that she is. Odysseus' pure joy at seeing his son and the mood shift when he was called to the front was on point. The visual of Odysseus stabbing himself while dealing with his moral conflict spoke volumes 👍 He was still on his knees after talking to Zeus and was being tender with the baby MORE flashbacks of Penelope and Telemachus (also, cool that you designed Penelope to look like her voice actress.) THE WAY YOU ANIMATED THE TEAR AND ODYSSEUS' HEART?! THE RIPPLES AT "WHEN DOES A RIPPLE BECOME A TIDAL WAVE?! THE COLOR CHANGE FROM BLUE TO ORANGE?! *chef's kiss* 👌 You actually showed Odysseus doing the deed (and correctly too) You actually showed the destruction of Troy (the fire animation was great) You showed Eurylochus, Polites, and the rest of his men looking up at him. Would it be fair to say that my heart BROKE into PROGRESSIVELY SMALLER PIECES with each shot that we saw baby Astyanax falling?!!??! This animatic is incredible all around, but the last scene was especially breathtaking. Odysseus will continue to grapple with the conflict between his humanity and the indifference to life that the gods expect him to uphold in order to be a ‘hero’. This last scene, both song and art, encapsulated the tired, spent Odysseus, who’s human nature is being slowly chipped away with time and hardship. The way Odysseus stands atop the battlements, presenting baby Astyanax to those below, is so beautifully done. It’s even more heart-wrenching when he howls ‘forgive me’ to all those around him: the Trojans, the Greeks, the dead, the gods, and even himself. The accompanying animation as he gently lets go of the child despite the horrific nature of his action is absolutely genius. This song was already so profound and displayed penetrating insight into the human condition, but the addition of your art and animation has only served to enrich the meaning of this tragedy. The other scene that I especially admired was ‘the man becoming a monster’ sequence. The light going out of his eyes as he stares down at the child, as if forgoing his own soul to commit this atrocity, was an apt depiction of his situation. The water was such a good metaphor. Personally, I interpreted it as the fluidity and the transitional nature of his humanity and his moral boundaries, but it can be interpreted in many ways. That’s what makes it so brilliant. I love your other work, and I look forward to seeing you continue to create beautiful and meaningful content like this!!

@thatmoviegirl38148 ай бұрын
In the context of the musical, I actually feel like this makes the song even more sad tbh T-T. Odysseus was so desperate not to kill this baby. He was begging Zeus for another way, saying he'd raise him like his own even after Zeus said he was destined to become vengeful and kill Odysseus and his family. The only reason Ody went through with it was to protect Penelope and Telemachus and the thought that this was the wrong baby and that Odysseus hasn't changed anything by killing him is making me cry so much harder T-T XD. And that also makes it more sad for the baby, being sacrificed for the sake of a prince and war he knows nothing about.

Just gasping. So beautiful as expected and just amazing artwork and artistry. I love how they all connect.

I always hold back tears during this song and you HAD to make it even more painful. The end ended me. I'll go cry now
