I am a grief counselor at Hospice of the Chesapeake in Maryland. My husband died from head and neck cancer and hospice helped him in the home setting in guiding us through with palliative care and providing spiritual and emotional support. Glad I found your channel.

Is this the Hospice Nurse Barbara Nurse Penny always talks about? ❤

Yes people do have the idea that hospice visits daily, they don’t understand that only happens at the very close end. The other thing not discussed is the way it is NOT by the family’s nor Hospice itself’s decision to set up hospice. There is a list of criteria to qualify, and THEN, MEDICARE makes the decision. That is disturbing to me: everything insurance touches gets ruined.

Is there inpatient away from home hospice places to go a hospice home

I think you did not stress the fact that hospice is NOT THERE most of the time when the patient is “on hospice.” The interviewer tried to make this point but was talked over and the subject quickly shifted back to how “awseome” hospice is. Please make sure people understand what hospice IS NOT.
