@@BlackOps6GuyOn the opposite, while Raiden lies to himself about fighting "for justice", "for good cause" or having any other moral justification, he can't defeat Armstrong - because Armstrobg exactly tells Raiden/Jack: that all is a lie. Kill is kill, it is hypocritical to justify it by anything good. And you Jack, are same as all of Desperado and as Armstrong himself - killers, same wind of destruction. Armstrong wanted Raiden to see it and accept it - because in the eyes of Armstrong only killers are making history, and thus only those, who can kill, can really be free. I know this song is meant to be a critique of this kind of attitude, but I can’t help but feel like the line “We fight for justice, in a forgotten place, fulfill our duty, then vanish without a trace,” is vaguely inspiring. It’s like the motto of a professional soldier who truly believes in what they’re doing.
@Paultheloveroffreedom10 ай бұрын
I understand your sentiment. I find the “Here I am” section very somber and tragic. Its self awareness at that part is interesting.
@caesarplaysgames10 ай бұрын
@@Paultheloveroffreedom Oh yeah it’s certainly tragic. I suppose it really depends on exactly what said soldier is fighting for. Obviously in the case of MGRR, they’re fighting for a mutant senator to take over America lmao, so the message of the song is certainly negative in that way. But still, I just find the idea of a soldier, so willing to sacrifice not only their lives but their status as an individual, all for something they truly believe in to be deeply moving. But as I said, whether it’s the right thing or not depends on what they’re fighting for.

I feel like aside from you and I there are very few people that actually find something inspiring and, dare I say it, positive in this song. Every single comment I've seen thus far about the meaning of the song says how it's criticizing the nature of conflict. And while I don't disagree with that (and certainly don't think these people are wrong), I personally can't help but be inspired by the song - the struggle, the devotion, the patriotism. Just like you said - willingness to discard oneself fully, in body and identity, for a cause you truly believe in - that is very inspiring to me.

criminally underrated, which somehow makes the song more poetic. A soldier fighting for a cause he will never truly understand, devoting everything he has to it only to be forgotten entirely. Obviously the song hasn't been forgotten entirely but by comparison to the other songs it is greatly overshadowed, which just isn't right. I could write an entire thesis about this song, the character of Khamsin and how profound the message is; the irony of a dog and a man fighting eachother for the same ideology, two sides of the same coin, both puppets to a greater course. Fantastic work.

Khamsin isn't exactly a "cyborg" like the others, he is more like a tank. The axe is presumably designed to smash through any UMG, or even multiple at once, in one hit rather than to actually beat custom cyborgs in a straight fight, and the primary function of the giant hull is to just about be able to control the axe. Even Blade Wolf, canonically the weakest boss that Prime Raiden goes up against, takes him out pretty easily because the agility of a post-SOP-era custom cyborg is shown to easily outmatch larger opponents. He would have been strong if the only threats on the battlefield were basic soldiers and Gekkos, but is out of place in a world where human-sized cyborgs can easily take out RAYs. This is possibly the theme behind his character - even though he is kind of evil, he possesses ideals of freedom and stewardship, which are liabilities for anyone who wants to be a soldier post-SOP. Maybe in the lore, he is the missing link between mecha and cyborgs: before single mercenaries could throw around buildings and take out entire armies with swords, there were mech-warriors like Khamsin, who used size rather than technique to dominate the battlefield. I think an unmanned version of the Khamsin mech, a "Sabre" equipped with a flamethrower and railgun, would be a good miniboss enemy for a sequel.
