The Hottest Food Trend In America?! | 15,000 Calorie Mystery Mukbang

With fall in full swing here in the United States of America, our grocery store shelves are quite literally overwhelmed by an endless array of limited edition pumpkin flavored foods and beverages that would leave any foreigner rightfully question whether autumn were a full fledged, 3 month American holiday. While pumpkin spice has infiltrated every imaginable genre of investable goods anywhere from the standard indulgences like cookies, cake, candy and ice cream all the way to hummus, cream cheese, protein bars and coffee creamer, the options can be so great between the name and store brand offerings it can leave one crippled with indecision. So, for this week’s Mukbang/food challenge/food review episode thing we’ve been producing recently, we divvied up the most popular categories of sweet eats between the two of us and surprised one another with, what turned out to be, 15,000 calories worth of pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice, and straight up pumpkin flavored treats we’d yet to try.
We had a ton of fun with this seasonally spiced mystery style video and most certainly found some new fall favorites to add to next years purchase list.

FAQ’s:
Q: How do you not gain weight?
Well, we currently are but here’s a quick answer as to how we managed to do weekly food challenges for a year and a half without gaining much it:
A: Endurance sports (primarily running, cycling and some resistance training tossed in) and extreme discipline & sacrifice with our daily diets is how we manage not to gain weight. We eat mostly vegetables, fruits, some whole grains and low fat dairy on the days outside these challenges. The calories consumed in a food challenge are the only calories consumed that day and sometimes the day following as well seeing our appetites are typically shot from so much food and the thought of eating is very off putting. Two days out we are back to large amounts of vegetables and increase to maintenance from there. We also often eat most of our days calories in a smaller eating window (we frequently bounce between intermittent fasting & OMAD diet as it just seems to work with our lifestyles and eating preferences). Anyone with a larger than normal stomach capacity like us, the drive to push through the discomfort of a challenge like this, and a basic understanding of energy balance (calories in vs calories out) can do it with enough disciple and intention (not that we recommend it).
Also worth mentioning is that we do not exercise to burn the calories consumed in a challenge but rather we are able to consume higher calorie diets due to our love for endurance sports and said discipline with our daily diets.
Q: Can you make a “What I eat in a day” / fitness focused video?
A: While we’re sure that type of video will eventually make its way out there, we are only able to produce one piece of quality content with our current schedules. We’re still in the very early stages of establishing ourselves within the food challenge genre and we’re constantly experimenting & trying to improve upon our style to make our channel/challenges a unique experience. This channel in particular will most likely always primarily revolve around food challenges but, if this ever became a legitimate source of income and we were able to focus our full attention towards creating content, our goal would be to start a second channel to offer more of a look into that side of our lives. So, for now, food challenges are the name of the game.

It's strange because it is Spring here in Australia and Starbucks has pumpkin spice drinks available. I really like a cold pumpkin spice coffee; I tried it for the first time last year and never realised that pumpkin spice would be just the spices that go in a pumpkin pie and not ... pumpkiny. Pumpkin Spice is the best!!!! Pumpkin Pie No Cow Protein bars are my absolute favorite! Skinny Syrups also makes this incredible Pumpkin Caramel Scone sugar free syrup that is to die for. AMAZING in coffee or oatmeal. Tons of love for the pumpkin spice Cheerios as well. Banger of a seasonal.

In the uk and in Africa our pies are covered we even have meat pies and pot pies they all covered..... love from Zimbabwe

A lot of our pies here in the states are covered as well. Most fruit pies like apple, blueberry, cherry etc. are covered as well as any kind of savory pies. Pumpkin pies are NEVER covered though which is what made it so strange 😁 Much love from the USA!

We’ll still bring challenges around from time to time but if you knew what eating an entire week’s worth of food in one sitting felt like you probably wouldn’t want to do them as often as we already have 😅 Each still ate roughly 7500 cals in this vid which would be a serious challenge for most - we’re just enjoying not being in a world of pain at the end of our videos for a minute.
