Very clear instructions with clear visual aids! Thank you! 35 years ago, my 90-year-old neighbor gave me 2 potholders made with this stitch. I always loved them and have been looking for this stitch to make new ones. Thank you from an always beginner crochet-er!

Do your crocheted hot pads really work? These hot pads will because they're almost double the thickness of a regular crocheted pot holder. Try em out and tell me what you think! Another fun pot holder tutorial -Easy Waffle Stitch Pot Holders: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nl6xqYCOabJ4qc0

Mine never looks right. I’m a total beginner and can not figure out how to make it look the same.

If you're a total beginner, this stitch might be challenging because we're doing 2 rows at once. Try my Waffle Stitch Hot Pads for a fun stitch that is definitely easier than these. I'll link it below. Also, there are other stitches that are fun but easier for new beginners that work for hot pads and washcloths, like the lemon peel stitch. I'll also link my bookmark tutorial because you can just chain more chains and turn it into a hot pad and that one is super beginner friendly.
