ABOUT KEVIN CHAPMAN
I'm a 38 year old KZbinr from the UK. I've got a cracking beard and I'm currently going through the autism diagnosis process. I started this channel back in 2017 and by the time I left my full-time job as a Computer Science teacher in July of that year, my partner Anna was trapped in our house by our son Andy, who is autistic and had refused to go to school for 18 months. Our daughters Lucy and Amy and our dog Dave hardly saw me because I was always working to try and solve all our problems! Today I'm a full-time content creator and always at home when the kids get home from school (all our kids!) and Anna has been able to return to university. I used to love in a 4 story house, the router was downstairs and we bought a signal booster to put in the middle floor in a plug, it really helped people on the top floor get decent speeds and didnt cost the earth could be a short/medium term semi-solution 👍

My friends son is autistic like Andy , he smashed the living room tv and they couldn’t afford a new one so as punishment they took the sons tv from his bedroom he didt understand it at first but then he smashed that tv too so lucky for them they got brought a new tv by family members and they put it in there bedroom and it was months before they replaced the living room & sons bedroom tv sounds harsh but he never broke another tv

Moving house was always going to be difficult, maybe check the settings in the account options for your netflix / disney plus account. I know some streaming services will let you "force" SD mode, so it doesn't try to play in HD and although the image will be a bit crap, it'll not buffer on 4g. Take it easy Kev.

Hi Kev, I would definitely get one of these, "TP-Link TL-WA850RE N300 Universal Range Extender". If you install this halfway between the router and the top floor this extender will give out "another wifi" for you up there. It will display its own SSID, like BTHUBxxxx_EXT (EXT = Extension) then as long as you have the password for both sets in Andy's (and your devices) your devices should connect to the strongest one!

Kevin, I know your pain with the BT 4G WiFi MiniHub and I am in a small flat. For the new house you need to (if you can) use Powerline adaptors, or a WholeHome WiFi system. Sorry to hear about the TV :-(

For the WiFi, in my house I have a disc which makes the WiFi stronger so it doesn’t buffer and it really helps

You can look at powerline adapters to get LAN upstairs, furthermore a mesh solution (i.e Google Mesh) might be worth looking into, you'd have access points on each floor which could solve that issue too.

Living in a towns house myself we have boosters on top floor for that reason, solved the issue. We also have alexa’s on each floor to save shouting up to my ASD son

My son can't handle the buffering either. So in case it ever happens, I have a file on the TV of his favorite shows, and also DVDs of his favorite movies that he watches all the time. It keeps him decently relaxed for a bit.

Definitely look into a (TP link dual band is best) WiFi extender once the new internet is in to increase the range and speed on the 3rd floor

Its my 37th Birthday next Wednesday, just before we go into another lockdown for... reasons... but, I'm cracking on with stage 1 of my own house move. I'm hoping I won't have to move backinto my mum's while somewhere suitable is found I'm not allowed in council houses in my area, because one beds don't have gardens for my assistance Labrador dog, so, I will always be looking for very accomodating landlords who haven't had bad times with past tenants and their animals. Wish me luck and give Jen and Urwin a shoutout on your next vlog. Is Andy happier in the new house now? I hope his internet troubles are sorted very soon. Looking forward to the update there.

Hi as a dad of a autistic son we had the same issue with tv I found a company called vizomax they do tv protectors the film is so thin it has no effect on viewing and absolute great as our son had a habit of throwing remotes now they just bounce off the tv has no effect and saves a fortune hope this of use to you

Kev with BT you can get complete WiFi , they send you WiFi disks so every room in your house can have signal , so Andy may benefit with one of those disks on his floor of the house 👍

Its not exactly possible the only thing i can think of that would help andy is a sensory room but specifically for calming down essentially an empty ish room to where he can be locked in and theres some kind of camera kinda thing so he can be kept watched. This is just what they use in my college i go to an autism specialist college. I imagine it’s definitely expensive thing todo It probably doesn’t help
