I've only ever played this on PC, they never had this cabinet at my local arcade. It looks like great fun though with the original hardware and light guns.

Yeah I'm lucky I grew up with console ports of these games with light guns and Crt monitors. Although I'll admit the arcade version is a better experience.

My biggest guess would be the guns are probably one of those guns that are actually mouses but the cursors are invisibles. Either that or I made the screen look like an lcd by not recording the side of the cabinet.

If I remember it was green by default, but you can change it to red in the dipswitches.

Loved this game on the Dreamcast as a kid. Amazing arcade game. I had the gun for the dreamcast and could play this game when I was at home when I was a kid. Oh, the good old days.

This is my next favorite game of all time behind Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder! I remember when it literally used to be EVERYWHERE when it first came out in arcades in 1999 too. It was also why I bought a Dreamcast at launch that same year as well! The upcoming remake of it should be interesting, and hopefully turns out okay. That being even if I am somewhat skeptical for now, since the first H.O.T.D. didn't exactly go all smooth by any means though. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong about that however.

@@phreal95gameroom2 Oh yeah, and I worked my ass off all summer to make sure I had money for both the Dreamcast, and The House of the Dead 2 when it ended! That and would play this game every time I came across it in arcades before then too. Hopefully we'll also get a port of part 5/Scarlet Dawn before long as well!

How is the controller still pretty accurate? An arcade near my area has horrible aiming and one of the pistols broke in half for whatever reason 🗿

The cabinet is definitely modded to where the guns are reacting to sensors instead of the traditional light gun tracking.

Lmao the final phase of the last boss is just ridiculous. Like how are you suppose to kill him before he shoots you? I guess they expected your hand to fall off your arm before you ever get to that part of the game haha

Through out my whole life, I always believed you just shoot him until he dies and he will hit you until you eventually kill him. Kind of like an adrenaline rush but it's more like quarter rush lol. I also discovered if you hit him enough per loop, you can evade his hit.

Is this an original cabinet or just the game installed into a generic cabinet? The machine at my local arcade is a rear-projection cabinet, yet I played this at a hotel in Spain many years ago and I don’t remember that being rear-projection.

Definitely not the original. This one is more modern with led screen and infrared on the sides of the screen for the guns.

@@phreal95gameroom2 By 'original' I should have said 'official'. A lot of arcade games get a 'deluxe' re-release, the same game but the 4:3 CRT screen is replaced with a huge 16:9 LCD screen. I should have asked whether this was an official cabinet or just the game put in a generic one.
