I love it when these older homes have cast iron radiators. When I was a kid, this was the best heat of all. It heated up water, and the house had moisture in the winter. No one, not one person or animal got sick with flu or a simple cold.

@@wandamontgomery6030 Radiators are designed to work with a steam system tied to a boiler or hot water systems relying on a water heater. They are built to allow steam or hot water in and to transfer heat from the water out into the surrounding air.

They were great when they worked! We always had to bleed the radiators ( let steam out) occasionally, so they would work better

Someone took pride in this home…well built and all the extras. I loved the bifold French door…makes it seem even more spacious. I hope someone saves it…I’ve seen much worse brought back to life. It would be worth it! Thank you, Kappy. 😊

Someone loved this home over a lot of years all the up dates and money spent on her makes me sad to see it sit like this . I just cant understand how know one want her . I think with time live and money she could shine again for sure. Looks like a good old solid home the roof and foundation look good everthing else in between can be fixed in my opinion. I grew up in a big, old house with all lot of these doorknobs and cool features and never thought of them as anything special. I did love my old house though, with the radiators that you could sit on and use for raising yeast to make baked goods. Looking at these old treasures brings back good memories!

The part where you said, “Three sinks in this house”. I believe that particular sink in that scene was for a wet bar. Hi Kappy, this is a fantastic old house minus all the graffiti. I loved the study with all the bookshelves and the leaded windows and even some stained glass in the attic. I can imagine how beautiful it was back when it was lived in with a family taking care of the property. Stay safe out there!

I had a subscription. Every month I received a new book. That was about 60 years ago. Last summer, I found them packed away in a storage unit where they'd been for at least a decade. 24 books in pristine condition with dust covers intact. I loved those stories! Gave them away to a young family. I was so happy to find someone who wanted them.

What a place!!! Love the bi-fold french doors, the short radiators, and that bathroom upstairs. What a house, amazing it is still intact for the most part and all you really see is broken windows, some graffitti, and peeling paint everywhere. That wallpaper in the upstairs bath was lovely. Oh can't forget the pink lamp with the fringe shade on the chain, the icing on the cake. Great explore, have a great day and safe travels

It's a little feature, but I loved that sink and counter on the back porch with a pass-through window into the kitchen. How practical to be able to wash the dirt off of vegetables before taking them into kitchen. Since it was meant to be a vacation home that may not have been the original purpose, but so very handy!

That first sink on the ground floor mud room is a common feature for houses in the UK, the third sink with the wine rack above would be your wet bar, interesting to have that in the reading room. The master bed/bath was very comfortable in its day. Who the hell was playing darts in that nasty old basement? lol

Judging from the exterior, it's a lovely old home. From the beginning it looks like it is well thought out as to layout. I know it would take a lot of work, but so far, I think that it's worth it. I sure hope that someone falls in love and can afford to update, insulate and restore this place. Those were heating oil tanks in the basement.

This house can be restored. It has solid bone structure throughout the place. Just a lot of peeling paint and debris to clean up. Get the old carpeting pulled out, and peeling wallpaper off the walls. And the graffiti removed, there's a lot of good structure to start over again in this beautiful house.

3:48 those stairs were for the maids, as They were NOT allowed to use the owners or the guest main stairs. Any time the maids were on the owner & guest stairs is when they were cleaning & polishing the banisters.

I can picture a big family living in that house. The upstairs ensuite bathroom with the jacuzzi and sky light was awesome! I definitely would have liked to have seen the house when it was new.
