If anything Littler coming along has helped Humphies with no pressure put upon him which would help with anxiety! True dart fans know how good Humphies is and his humble approach and not moaning makes him very likable and a great ambassador as world number 1

Yeah, agree with that. The spotlight has been on Litter and that has took the pressure off Humphries and allowed him to go under the radar and quietly go about his business. If Humphries had the amount of attention and expectation Littler gets then maybe he wouldn't be winning as much. When I saw that James Wade interview I thought he was being disingenuous and wanting the media to focus on Humphries more so he wouldn't be so dominant this season.

Humphries seems like a genuine guy and really level headed! I shouldn't imagine he cares all too much about who's getting more attention from the media. Earnings/ Order of Merit speaks for itslef and Humphries is way ahead anybody else in the field. If I was Humphries I'd be ecstatic and hoping Littler keeps taking the limelight off me so I can focus on my darts and keep mopping up titles! - By the way, Excellent video! Subscribed!

These two players have been a breath of fresh air in the last 12 months and play at a ridiculously high level more consistently want other player. But also one or two other young players winning and playing great darts too. The game is in a fantastic place right now. Brilliant.

If I were Humpries, I wouldn't care one bit. Winning the most money. The most consistent player. Littler is good, but he is still learning to handle pressures of time away from family, growing up in the media eye, fan adulation. Humpries has his own family and is mature. Pressure is off Humpries as media only focus on Littler.

Luke Humphries is the best player by far right now because the most consistent. Also, ppl tend to have incredible performances against him and he still comes out on top most times. For example De Decker had the game of his life against him in the Grand Prix finals, thats what it took to beat him. Also Humphries is the reason that keeps littler motivated so I hope he stays on top for another 5+ years. If Littler won everything already at this age he would soon lose motivation in his 20s as we have often seen with other athletes that are super successful at a young age. Humphries is the Roshi/Tien to Littlers Goku right now.

The reason he’s been over shadowed is very simple - because Littler is SEVENTEEN years old. I appreciate Humpries as much as anyone, I actually think his mentality gives him the edge over Littler but it’s no surprise more casual fans are more aware of Littler because it is utterly ridiculous for him to be doing what he’s doing at his age.

I think Humphries has been unfairly treated by the media and as a result, the general public too. When I meet new people and say I like Darts, they always ask “what do you think to that 16 year old” or “what do you think of that Littler?” I say he’s very good but he’s not the best. Humphries in 2024 has been the most dominant player since MVG in 2014 and Taylor in 2013. Between the 2023 and 2024 World Grand Prix, he’s won all the majors apart from the European Championship, Masters, UK Open, Premier League and World Series Finals. Two of which he was runner up. Littler has been good and has won a lot, but mostly the smaller tournaments. When it comes the majors, he’s just nowhere near his best on a consistent basis. Humphries tho is very mature and doesn’t let it bother him and I think that’s why he’s able to keep winning and not be distracted.

Although I also think, Humphries does not get enough credit for his outstanding performances, you need to take into account that Littler won the Premier League. It's not that small of a tournament and he did beat all the Smiths, Prices, MvG' and so on on a weekly basis.

Great video mate, I personally think this plays into Humphries hands a bit. With the limelight off him he can just concentrate on his game and as a few pros have said Littler has made it easier for others to make money by getting sponsors they wouldn't usually get before. But I do agree to a certain extent that Humphries needs a bit of credit for how he has played over the past 18 months and I'm not sure if people will remember but it weren't that long ago he lost in a Pro Tour floor event with a 77ave, if Littler does that it'll be everywhere and it has when Littler has lost in the first round of a few tournaments this year. Keep up the good work mate 👍🏼🎯

But Humphries was a much much shorter price than Litlter so how is that a little bit better? Or were the 2 stakes massively different coz Litlter was 66/1 wheras Humphries was 1 of the favs

@@Everton-Valley-2005 I only had 8 Quid on Littler but i only got 50/1, but I originally got 18/1 on My first bet on Humphries but only got 7/2 on my last bet on him,i backed him a good bit before he had won a TV title,got over a grand back for him but the biggest bet I had on him was 20 quid it was all fiver and tenner bets with a couple of 20 quid bets over about a 6 month period I honestly did the same the year before with Smith and got over a grand,my mates couldn't belive it,but previous to that I only backed the winner once in 20 odd years that was one of Gary Andersons wins,I only backed Littler for a bit of interest as had watched him on the Modus super series and thought he was an unbelievable talent,I honestly thought Humphries was a good price originally,but no way I thought he was going to go on the run he did ,sorry for the long winded reply.

@Everton-Valley-2005 I always try to go for a value bet at the darts,but don't know why but have put money on ( not a lot ) MVG at various prices from 5/1 to 13/2 but being honest don't think he will win it i just thought a few months ago hes due to come back to form,but he's very hot and cold,I was honestly committed the last 2 years on Smith and Humphries and just had a feeling they would win,but im in a bit of a quandary this year,but my dark horses at a decent price are Wessel Nijman,he hits ton plus averages for fun and Chris Dobey who on his game can match anyone,but if my life depended on it I would have to go for Humphries,but the price is very restrictive for the money I'm putting on.

The fascinating thing about humphries is hes so frequently playing to the level of his opponent and sometimes just edges the victory. He has brilliant timing when needed. All 3 Major games against Pietretzko show that. Even when playing poor he delivers when needed. Also agains Bunting in the grand Prix final. An when he needs to play brilliant as in yesterdays semi final against littler hes able to level up. Littler plays 110 for the tournament. Humphries does not, but he plays to the level needed for a comfortable victory against a brilliant littler

Also vs Cullen in the round of last 16 in the WC he somehow managed to get through when it mattered. And at this point, after beating Cullen, it was clear as day to me that he would go on to win the WC as he had his best games still in him (and would you look at that he absolutely annihilated Williams in the Semis).

They're both brilliant for the game...darts is really on the map again, since the "Taylor years", that is thanks to Littler. He's a good kid too, normal teenager apart from being a genius. but Humphries definitely gets the respects that he deserves, the "Spotlight" is a different story. All he has to focus on is how to beat Littler and his stats will stay forever, regardless of the "current spotlight". I'd say it makes his job easier. The pressure is on Littler, nobody expects him to lose atm...and he doesn't really like pressure. he is only a kid for fs lol 😂 an absolute freak...he'll still break lots of records...and everybody likes him!! Likely be next year, Smith defending serious money could drop out of the top 16 with a poor Grand Slam and worlds, Cross defending a runner up at the players championship too. Littler nothing to defend, suspect he'll be 4th in the world after the WCs within a few thousand of cross.

Most of the attention garnered by Littler isnt attention that would have gone to Humphreys. Darts isnt that popular, its a fairly niche sport in terms of genuine fans. I do think Humphreys gets a lot of credit within the sport. Its just from a marketing pr perspective his story is plain, and his image is fairly vanilla, squeaky clean. I mean he does seem a great guy, but compared to Littler he's plain, he's like a Roger Federa of darts. Littler offers attitude, Humphreys humilty. Littlers story and attitude make him more attractive to the media. I think Wade and Anderson think Humphreys should be on Ross and in the BBC studio, but i highly doubt he would have been invited to either of Littler wasn't around.

I think this is creating drama out of nothing. Littler is a young phenom, Humphreys is on a great run and between the 2 of them are benefiting from the littler promo. Littlers post after the world's shows this. Just enjoy the level of darts that's on display instead of creating narratives that aren't really there

Littlers age made it such a crazy story. Humphries is an all timer, but take away Littler and his media hype) and Humphries still gets the same level of coverage he gets now. Just embrace both because forms will dip eventually and we will be forced to look back and reminisce
