A cool idea would be to only use 12 year olds, it would make the careers pretty much useless because most young careers still aren’t very trained and gives every district a better chance. Also it’s just super brutal.

@@edenbrown1958 I can actually see that being something the capitol would do. "as a reminder to the rebels that it was the youngest of the district's citizens that suffered the most from their decision to rebel, the tributes from each district consisted entirely of 12 year olds."

Catching fire is the best book to movie adaptation I've ever seen. As someone who loves the books, it was so great to think in my head while watching the movie; "ok this should happen next" and it actually happened. They did a great job.

100% I was pretty disappointed in the first one because i loved the book but the movie didn't do it justice imo (leaving out some stuff that was setup for the sequels) but this one in particular is just amazing, so much closer to the book and man did they deliver on translating it to the screen!

@@maxmustsleep I agree. I really wish Frances Lawrence had directed the 1st movie because it would have been so much better. Probably would have gotten the Cato/clove moment instead of Cato giving a random speech at the end. I'm just glad he directed the rest of the trilogy.

Of all the characters, Effie has the most development. Exhibit A: Look at her outfit. In the first movie and most of this one, it was all powdered faces, metallic lipstick and outlandish outfits. Here in the next ceremony, it's just a simple butterfly dress with natural looking makeup. Because THAT'S the influence Katniss and Peeta had on her. Touring with them made her come around to actually LIKING them, not just for the sake of her job. Exhibit B: The look on her face. Before she was more than happy to announce the tributes. Now? She's crushed, because this is the first time the tribute is someone she cares about. So much development in these two movies alone.

As someone who only watched the movies, when I first watched this I was just as confused as Katniss most of the time, I didn't trust ANY of the characters. I think watching it a second time round was low key much more enjoyable, cuz you knew the outcome and could watch as it was carefully set up by each of the characters in on it.

When Johanna told Katniss, _"I got them out for you,"_ I realized that Haymitch negotiated many more Tributes as allies for Katniss beside Finnick.

As if the concept of The Hunger Games isn't scary enough, let's force them to go through the Quarter Quell. Honestly though, Catching Fire is probably my favorite book/movie in the franchise.
@VegetaLF7
@VegetaLF7 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, between the ideas of the Hunger Games, the Battle Royale game and the Squid Game, I'm not sure which concept is scarier. Squid Game is at least volunteers and offers an out if you make it through round 1. But between the Capitol oppressing the entire country by publicly sacrificing these kids each year in the games and Battle Royale's abduction of an entire class of kids to have brutally murder each other purely for entertainment, both systems are entirely fucked up and terrifying to imagine oneself in.

Actually IIRC, in the book Katniss grabs the syringe with the intention of mercy killing Peeta bc she thinks they’ve been captured by the capitol and doesn’t want him in their hands. Also in the book, we got to see Haymitch’s games, which is how Katniss first learns about the force field. Kinda wish they had kept that in, as well as the detail of Peeta taking up painting 🥺

Ok I have to say this. Everyone always says/thinks Katniss only started liking Peeta by the end of Catching Fire with their make out on the beach before everything goes to hell. Mainly because of their shared Hunger Games Trauma. However, there are so many, all be it subtle, moments from the first and second books that would indicate her feelings are much greater than she ever admits even to herself. If you pay attention to her actions and reactions where Peeta is concerned it is completely obvious she is into him. Obviously the bread, she misses her opportunity to get to the cornucopia in the first games because she is looking at Peeta, the second she has a chance for Peeta to live she does not hesitate, in fact she shouts his name out loud, her reaction when the cannon goes off while Peeta was gathering berries, even the stunt with the berries to save them both, all she can think about is Peeta after the first games when she is in recovery, She sleeps in the same bed with him almost every night on tour, etc. What has always attracted Katniss to Peeta is his kindness and compassion. She says in the first book that kind people have a way of invading her heart and making her have the feels.(paraphrase) When it comes to Gale, first he was a total playboy in the district. He only started liking her 6months before the reaping. He NEVER shoots his shot before she leaves for the games. He is emotionally manipulative with Katniss. The only reason she ever gives him any “romantic” attention is because she worries for their friendship and when he is mad if she doesn’t reciprocate. He even gets jealous of her besties friendship with Finnick. It’s like dude, she’s just not that into you! Stop trying to make “fetch” happen, it’s not going to happen!

One of the best book adaptations ever! I found the first one to be a bit disappointing, not that it was terrible but it felt a bit off and left out a bunch of scenes that i loved from the books and that felt like it was necessary setup for the sequels. But damn did they deliver on this one (and the next two)! Peeta and Katniss' first real kiss is in the cave during the first game. Peeta was angry that she'd gone to get this medication and they argued. She realized she didn't want to lose Peeta but couldn't tell him. Peeta kisses her and she recognizes that she has feelings for him but is unable to understand because they're int he arena, Panem is watching, only one can live.etc.

I love that a book reader is doing these reactions. But I feel like certain things about Peeta you were misinterpreting. I think he is the epitome of kindness and selflessness, clearly he loved Katniss but he was thinking purely about Gale when he got the weeping, and he really volunteered mainly to spare Haymish of going through the games at his age, I'm sure he wanted to protect Katniss as well but Haymish was his priority. Peeta was really sacrificing himself every step of the way. He was the one to ask Haymish for helping Katniss... The moment the news broke, he didn't even think of himself. Fucking love that character

People wanna believe that katniss couldn’t decide between gale or peeta. They ignore the fact that katniss affection for gale is one of admiration and that they grew up together and made logical sense as they had similar interests, but she never saw him romantically, but she felt like she owed it to gale to be partners. Peeta however from the books, she showed at first that she kissed him because she wanted the audience to believe their romance, but after she kissed again she herself liked it and felt that feeling of infatuation, but once again she denies those feelings because she feels guilt about gale.

Pretty much. There is this sense of pressure to feel something for Gale on Katniss's part, I feel like, because they have known each other for so long and like you said maybe she felt like she owed him a relationship. He's always been taking care of her and her family after all and that's a huge debt to owe. But mans was never going to get out of that friendzone and he was a bit of an asshole about it too.

@@hawkins347 If I remember correctly I think someone from their KZbin channel explained it. In conclusion gale and katniss could have ended up together and maybe have a content marriage, but it would all stem from the fact that katniss never entered the games, as that would have never led to Gale changing as he did, it would be when he was still plain and simple guy from district 12.
@Threeleebird
@Threeleebird Жыл бұрын
@@ethansolorzano5989 If it had gone that far, I can perfectly see Gale being able to cheat on Katniss over and over again, and Katniss seeking solace in Peeta. They could never have made each other happy because they forced a friendship into something more just because they thought it would be a good idea and because they were used to each other and felt it made sense. Their marriage would be more of a commitment thing and something like "what we should want." but not real love.

What happens if a District has no victors to act as mentors? Are the next pair just shit out of luck? Or is it rigged so there's always at least one winner in each district?
@ethansolorzano5989
@ethansolorzano5989 2 жыл бұрын
Well I mean the mentors essentially are just there to give them tips about the games and to get them sponsors. Haymitch for example was the 2nd person to ever win the games from district 12. But his mentor was so old that he had to basically do everything himself and had no sponsors or tips to survive. Then after his mentor died he was the only person that could help them. But mentors/victors can only choose one person individually to sponsor. Haymitch chose Katniss in hunger games 1, and insisted going back into the games because he feel like he owed it to peeta.
@ethansolorzano5989
@ethansolorzano5989 2 жыл бұрын
Also the games are not rigged, they are just heavily based on knowledge and resources. For example district 1 and 2 are basically the ones with the most winners given that their closest to the capital.

Not going to lie finnick really threw me for a loop I got a really bad vibe about him when I first heard about him I didn't trust him as far as I could throw him through basically this entire book I was like I okay I think he's just using her for the time being that he's helping pita so she'll stay on his side and yeah things are going to separate and he's going to be turning on them any minute now and then in Mockingjay we find out so much more about him and I just my soul was crushed I was like I was so wrong about him such a good kid and he's just so torturedAnd that arrogant way he approached katniss with the sexual undertones and whatever yeah that was just a trauma response after knowing what the capital did to him he doesn't really know any other way to talk to people anymore

from what i remember of The Hunger Games, and Catching Fire: they're all written in first-person, right? and i always thought that the first movie didn't/couldn't do a good job translating all of the inner monologue, ya know? but Catching Fire was so cinematic, AND since Katniss was in the dark about the plan.. J.Law had an easier job acting her part for the story, for the audience. nice commentary 🙂

It was a great movie! But i didn't get what President Snow wanted katniss to do when he met her in the start of the movie. Did he want her to convince him that she will kill herself for love? So he doesn't harm her family.If that's true then was she supposed to kill herself after the that tour and how? Just didn't understand what thar meant
@jaco3394

He wanted Katniss to convince him that she was in love with Peeta. He knew that she wasn't so if she could pretend well enough that he believed her feelings to be real, she'd also convince the Districts and prevent the rebellion.

I love your reactions, but I ended up staying away from here for a while, are you still going to react to the umbrella academy? were my favorite videos! (By the way, Season 3 is amazing) taking advantage, if you are looking for a new series to react, I recommend "Locke & Key", a perfect series, it has two seasons released and the third (and last) comes out in August.

Hi! Not sure if you take suggestions for reactions however there is a critically underrated movie called red shoes and the seven dwarfs (the first trailer came out around 5 years ago but don’t watch the trailers, they’re really misleading and give the opposite message in relation to the movie) whoever was in charge of the advertisements really wanted the movie to fail- and unfortunately the movie didn’t get a lot of attention Even though the animation is absolutely amazing (Disney level stuff) and the message is even better. It’s basically Snow White and the seven dwarfs but with a completely different story and a great message for the audience (the only similarity is the name of the main character, Snow White, and dwarfs existing)
