Yes, it is. I use my hx stomp xl all the time. Now all my pedals is in the closet, and my hx always in my backpack. Best musical purchase I ever had.

I like how everything on the HXSt XL is top loading leads and the 4th snapshot certainly doesn't hurt. I'd just say having the morningstar MC6ii it really wasn't hard to setup. I did a few complicated banks when I started trying it out but really all I use is 1 patch on the MC6 which is as follows: All 6 switches are set to min and max value toggle and labelled fx1-fx6. This is super easy and fast to set up. Then everything else is programmed using the Stomp so if I want fx1 to control drive I set the hx stomp to drive min 5 and max on 6.5 on the controller assign on the stomp. I don't have to work that out in 128 values for midi. I do the same with expression on the MC6 set min 1-max 127 and I for get about it. I then set the stuff on the HXSt and I use the learn button so I don't have to remember the MIDI CC#. For snapshots I do that using the Stomp unit and the MC6 for FX toggle FS. I also get 3 expression pedals - 2 on the mc6 (I use one for drive/channel volume and the other for wah) + 1 exp/2 extra fs (I don't use it right now though). But you do need to plug in 2 things in place 1 thing.

I gig with the Stomp XL - the extra switches are a godsend. I use it as basically 4 extra pedals on my board (plus a DI amp if needed), instead of using snapshots.

I know 3rd party options are out there, but I wish line6 would make an official external 3 button controller for the hx stomp. Fully supported in the firmware, with the LEDs etc. Sized to sit just below the stomp on a board.

Nice video and I learned alot, followed step by step to reproduce. Listening in my headphone however, using my strat, it sound much harsher than what I'm hearing here on youtube. Is this a global eq thing to suit my headphones, or what other factors should I consider. It sounds unuseable as is, so I need to do something. Thanks for any tips, and as I said great video, was a godsend for getting me going.
@bluessyndicatetube2 жыл бұрын
I see that having hooked the hx stomp xl up to my qsc K10 wedge it sounds much different than it did through headphones, so I gather headphones require unique adjustments/eq. Nice to hear that it sounded reasonably good through the K10..gives me confidence that I could gig live with this. My main goal was to us the HX as an effects pedal for my tube amps, and have a back up in case my tube amps failed at a gig. Now I see it's good enough that I'll also probably just take the hx to practices and forego bringing ah amp. All said, I'm seeing why people are enthusiastic for the hx stomp XL. I originally had a full Helix, but this xl is going to work even better, the xl was pretty large and more awkward to transport.

Recently got the XL, still trying to get my head around it. Figured how to get into snapshot mode, but once I hit a footswitch it went back to preset mode but then I read that I need to put it in Latch, so I got that covered. But now every time I start XL it goes back to preset mode and I have to press bank up and down again. Is there any way that it stays in snapshot mode?

You make me want the HX Stomp :) I wonder how you monitor yourself, just playing or making a video? Very nice sounds. Edit: i only play at home, and mostly small tube-amps but i have a few older modellers. Using headhones and cheapo active studio monitors. Putting a Zoom G3 trough the effects loop of my amps sounds less than optimal. Lol. Thanks.
@clausmadsen67542 жыл бұрын
I believe he plays through studio monitors. Which ones I don’t know. I do the same and you quickly get used to it to the extent that everything else sounds weird. The other day I hooked up my stomp to an active Yamaha PA speaker. The sound scared me. The PA sounded so stiff and kind of unpleasant… I didn’t enjoy it for playing. Made me very self conscious.
