Glad you pointed out they should stand behind there products. I am a hyperkin fan BTW. Still like playing my NES all stock on a CRT. My duck hunt blaster is still going strong the last 31 years I have owned it. 😀

Agreed. They have their misses, sure, but they do have decent gear too. Their Wireless Scout and Cadet controllers are awesome for example!

I think it may have been a wiring issue when I was looking into it one time. You see the controller extention cords that they make (the 6ft generic ones) well when I saw the original layout if I remembered correct the 2 wires in order to get the zapper working were never solder in which is why they were only good for controller support. This one when you cracked it open seemed to be layed out correct.

I have my 27" JVC CRT from 1996 set up in the corner of my bedroom with a 4 way switch box with all my 8 and 16-bit consoles, as well as a GameCube (with the Gameboy Player) hooked up. I originally bought the TV off Craigslist for $30 to play my childhood copy of Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt that I found with SMB3 in our gray and black official NES 10 game cartridge holder.

I now have both the Gray and Orange NES Zapper, a Sega Genesis and SNES Konami Justifier light gun, and the rarer Pink Konami Player 2 Justifier (with a telephone connector for cross platform compatibility with the Sega Genesis/Sega CD and SNES/Super Famicom games by plugging in to the Player One gun via a small telephone plug input on the bottom). I love light gun games and classic TVs. It is so much easier playing the games I grew up with on the original TV hardware they were designed for, I have to run my HD SNES Mini and Sega Genesis Mini through an HDMI to Composite converter into the CRT for correct feel and aspect ratio (yeah, you can adjust stuff on newer TVs, but to me, once I hit that sweet spot, game changing, in multiple ways.

I am sure there is a wiring problem between Zapper and Retron, so it isn't actually a passthrough, rather rewiring. My guess, trigger and light sense pins were mixed with eachother, so you'd never could make a shot without adapter (unless point Zapper to light).

I run my nes and famicom through a retrotink 2x pro. Do you think I can run duck hunt through my front loader and have it work? Or is it exclusive to retron 2 and 3? I am not really a big fan of the audio emulation of those retron consoles.

Yeah, Tailspin is pretty different. But Darkwing, IMO, is the best out of all of them. And yes, I mean better than Ducktails as well.

I have two copies of Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt. I can't get either one of them to work on my Retron 3 HD. They will work on my original Nes. Did you have any issues getting the game to run on your Retron 3?

I noticed the pin out is different between my two carts. One has contacts on both outer edges and a blank space in the middle. The other one has contacts all the way across the connector. I wonder how many different revisions of the cart exist?

Is it possible that the adapter rewires the pins? I couldn't tell from the video itself, but if any of the colored wires aren't connected to the same pin on both ends, that could make a difference. Either way pretty cool. I've got the Hyperkin Retron HD (just NES version), so I'm good.

Great video! I have this and it wasn't work very well. I would shoot anywhere and it would hit the duck. I didn't kniw there was adjustment on the gun. Ill try it again. Im also using a retro 1 HD

Yes, on the bottom of the gun itself. If I remember right, closest to the barrel is the most sensitive, closest to the trigger is least sensitive.

The SMB/Duck Hunt cart is $5 or less, but having the front loader is the bigger issue.

Things I'd like to see as they continue to improve a great product idea: A ribbon cable so I can use it on a front loader NES, a micro or usb c port on the side for firmware updates to add more games, and the ability to play the lone ranger game!

I had to do something when my 4th Retron 5 stopped working and their customer service was like "we don't know why they keep breaking but everyone from the office is in China and we don't care about you at all". This adapter is for just those 2 systems, yes. For original hardware, this won't work, and on original hardware, it's still not a great experience.

Yes I played the game all the time I stile have my nes101 toploarder and duck hunt but I use a retron 5 to play all my other games. it would be cool if they get it to work on a retron 5

Without the adapter it works on the Retron HD & Super Retro Trio 3+, with the adapter add the Retron 2 & 3 to the mix. It only works with Duck Hunt, and this specific version

Me and my dad will always play duck hunt as super Mario brothers my dad always miss the dock he blames it on the dog but that was the fun of the game I truly miss my dad but this is zappers told the awesome need to get one

So this is off topic but I slept many years in the Canadian military. Did some serious wpns training and with pistol it shouldnt matter which I dominate you are. Try both eyes open even if youre opposite than your hand. Your dominate eye will find the sights. The sights on a pistol are so close to each other and far from your eye you wont need to close the non dominate eye man!
