We just purchased a 2020 with 6 speed manual & performance pkg. My son wanted to drive manual (smart kid), so to train we rented from Turo. We drove a WRX, a Polaris Slingshot, a Miata, a 370z, and a C7 Z51. The Corvette is the best, but it’s crazy fast and mucho $$$. 370z is fast w/6 cyl., but not the best handling like the Miata or Slingshot (3 wheel). WRX had crappy turbo lag but good handling. The Veloster N, next to the C7, is the most fun, and can chase the best thing you got on mountain roads. I love the car, and BTW it was voted 2020 Sport Car of the Year by Car & Driver. Go read the article. The Veloster was chasing a McLaren! Civic Type R is a great car too, no argument. My son was right about the Veloster N. BTW, in CA, our 2020 with just few thousand miles on the odometer and almost brand new, under $30k + 10 yr. warranty. If I had money I’d by a C8!!

The backseat door is on the passenger side so ur passengers can enter safely on the sidewalk side, instead of being on the busy streets of the driver side. Great for safety of ur kids especially 😏

Tip: set it to custom so you get all the N mode characteristics but set the suspension to normal then it won't be so stiff. This is the mode I use almost all the time except when I'm in my neighborhood.

Great review here brother. I bought mine in December last year and that DCT will definitely not leave you missing your manual. My wife loves it too, gave her the keys to take it for a spin and when she returned home, her first words were “its a beast” lol. I love this car as it gives me the same level of enjoyment i had when I drove my first Golf GTi back in the late 80’s-Early 90’s. Glad i have one of these “hot hatches” and definitely enjoyed your review, compliments to your wife for supporting you in what you do. Sub’d.

Great thing about the Veloster N is "N" mode. Where you can adjust the different aspects of the car. For the example, the ride quality you were talking about. Great review of the car.

Great video review! Love how these have the crackles and pops from the exhaust stock from the factory. Considering this for my next car, along with the next-gen Type R and Golf R, and this Veloster N undercuts those two's prices by a substantial bit.

You are correct about the interior. There's a gentlemen who goes by the name "Mr.Kim ". He creates alcantara fitments for the interior on the VN, which gives the car a more upscale look inside.

N custom allows you to soften the suspension while leaving the rest of the experience 🔥. Great review, I've got a thousand miles in the driver's seat of my 2021 including a trip to the cabin (90 minutes each way) and lots of eco mode time. Will easily get 34mpg on a road trip. I switch into N custom EVERY time I get stop and go! Manual all the way!

Don't forget you can throw it in N custom mode and put the suspension on normal (softest setting) and everything else on max. Plus that N Grin Shift button which gives you 20 seconds of over boost and you can also pause it half way and use it later (it has a 3 minute cool down period).

Oh I know, but even doing all that …suspension is still super stiff. I don’t fault the car for it, it does what it’s designed to do extremely well.

It's interesting to me we went from 29,500 with a manual with a PP. To 35 with a PP and seats, and a DCT? Something doesn't add up to charge an extra 5k for seats and a DCT.

Right?! tough choice. If you have two cars, I'd get a dct if your other is a manual, or a manual if your other car is an auto. I really want to test drive the dct to see how good it is, I usually hate driving automatics but this one has me kinda hyped. Manual is definitely cheaper though, especially if it means you get a 2019 model instead of a 2021.

What are you even talking about??? If you think this has the same parts/suspension/engine as the older generations for $35k your crazy. This Veloster N has only been in production for 3years now. It is completely different from the older '11-'18 generation from the ground up. It's not 35k either, that is if you want the seats and dct, otherwise it's around 30k. Let me inform you bc you clearly are talking out your ass and don't know shit about this car. Hyundai actually took and hired Albert Beibermann who was the Vice President of BMW's "M" series performance division. He runs the "N" division now for Hyundai and has been knocking car after car out of the park. Hyundai also hired Audi design engineers as well(notice the big front grill similar to Audi's). Hyundai loves German cars and is starting to resemble them with all the German help they've been receiving. G80 for example. Yea idk why I'm even wasting my time explaining this to someone who thinks this Veloster is an 8yrs old model. Do some homework|Google foo next time before posting this nonsense and looking like a fool bud.
