When i shopped for my 18 Elantra Sport, it HAD to have a sunroof, as my 13 Elantra Limited had it and i wanted it because my family and i use it often. When I shopped for my 20 Veloster N, i was disappointed to learn they didn't come with them, as well as a few other features like heated and leather seats. But the car is so much more than that.. it's a driver's car. It's meant to impress you by driving it, not by feeling wind in your face. The fun factor in the Veloster N is legendary

When I needed to get a new daily a couple of months ago, I cross shopped a new Mazda3 turbo, new cx-30 turbo, used Volvo S60 T8, and the new DCT veloster N. I drove the veloster last. Was blown away by how sharp and taut it felt. My favorite part of the car is the steering wheel, feels just right. I traded in an E class and had just sold my ‘18 ZL1. Plus had just done a Cali road trip in a 991.2 C2S and S63 coupe. And I couldn’t stop thinking about the veloster N after the test drive. My local dealership only had a red one which I did not care for. Drove 60miles out of state to pick up a white one. If you are in MA/CT/RI area I highly recommend Gary Rome Hyundai. It is prolly the nicest Hyundai dealership I’ve ever seen and none of the sleazy car dealership vibe.

@@ll.7927 lol the veloster n was not a replacement for the ZL1. Sold the ZL1 cuz I was getting even money for what I had paid new in 2019. Veloster N was the replacement for my daily E class. If u r looking for a fun daily, I would recommend test driving the $30-$35k hatchback class of Golf/GTI, Mazda 3 turbo, Veloster N, etc. Veloster N clearly stood out for me. It has a great steering feel and response, fun punchy engine, great daily transmission with remarkably fast shifts. It also made the most financial sense in our current market for me, looking for a fun daily. New, reasonably priced, no mark up (hey civic type R, looking at u), great warranty, 0% financing, and relatively cheap to service. Plus I need the back space for a 70lb pit mix.

How does the transmission on the DCT model work when in SPORT or N Mode, as far as shifting throughout the rev range? Is it left entirely to the driver to upshift and downshift at any desired point throughout the rev range (as if driving a true manual transmission), or does the onboard computer interfere with driver input at certain revs if no input is detected from the driver as is the case in many automatics with paddle shifters?

As most people should do the research the twin clutch is amazing it's a lot faster than the 5-speed in a one-on-one battle however they have an Achilles heel basically they're supposed to be driven a certain way using certain modes when you get in the car and start it up you can't just slap it and drive you have to run through like three or four steps in order to keep his life for as long as it can live but it will die just like a clutch in a manual transmission that's why I think the manuals probably better way to go you don't want to buy a $2,000 transmission 60,000 miles later

Great review! My wife and I have been looking for a new car for her for about the last month or so, (her X, lots of problems the last year or so) I've watched 100s of videos and the phrase you used (and I've heard many times now) is "value for money" - I've always been a BMW guy, (in the driveway now an 06 ZCP///M3 (my dd), and a 99 ///M3 (project), she was looking at all the same old boring, run of the mill Honda/Nissan/Toyota for around 30k, knowing this would be her daily, (and the vehicle we take on road trips) and that I'll also drive when the 06 is getting work done/ broken, I wanted something I would also enjoy driving. I was worried because its front wheel drive, (it's different, I'm not drifting the on-ramps, but w/ that ESD great in its own way) she'd prefer 4 doors/ me, coupe of course, this was a perfect compromise. Last week Monday late afternoon we test drove a performance blue DCT, that night it was in the driveway-Sold! Hyundai/Kia made a great decision hiring A.B. from BMW and letting him do his thing. The wife is not a fan of the stick, (funny, so I left that in) so the DCT is perfect, she can put it in drive and go, me, I go into the N custom pages and enjoy adjusting every little detail, the DCT combined with the E.S.D. in N mode is impressive, 0-60 under 5 seconds, you can adjust the launch control RPMs up to 3500. (at this price point is amazing) She likes the safety features they've added this year along with the Apple car play, I like the N.G.S. button. Bottom line, we now have a fun car that has a good warranty, + 3 years included maintenance- again- "VALUE for MONEY" FYI- the app you download after purchase gives you remote start, (with the DCT at least) she really likes having the car nice and cool when heading out in the morning. You are correct about "hard plastics" but, the touch screen works great, it's easy to navigate, very descriptive and just the right amount of hard buttons for all the common use items- you quickly forget about the hard plastics. Seats fit like a glove, (cool illuminated N logo- thanks A.B.) and a quality steering wheel are whats more important to me (us). My issues/ concerns: I get they have a certain price point, but why do most other markets have heated seats/ steering wheel, its not even an option (or even to order) here. (in my opinion)- every car should have the heating elements in the seats and steering wheel pre-installed from the factory, if a customer wants to pay the, lets say $750./$1000./$1200. whatever, the dealership could then easily swap out the trim panel (around the shifter) with a new one that has those buttons installed-(plug & play/win-win right) this was almost a deal breaker for us-(the wife)- That said, maybe when winter rolls around its not bad because of the materials used. (in our BMWs the leather gets cooold in the winter/ I tweak my back sometimes and the heat really helps + road trips) At least make it a special order option somehow. Next, the shifter paddles on the steering wheel feel nice and appear to be good quality, but they are on the small side, I found myself "searching" mid corner on a few occasions, I'm not saying they need to be Alfa Romeo / wrap half way around the steering wheel big, but a larger/ N specific paddle would be more appropriate. (not to mention everyone that provides content/ reviews would mention them in conjunction w/ the DCT- just watch a couple videos of the new Competition M3/M4 -with its new c.f. paddles) Last, it looks like they do have N Performance parts, but they are only available in Korea- I don't understand this. I'll use what I'm familiar with-BMW, if you want a c.f. Performance Engine cover, c.f. mirror caps, a more aggressive sounding Performance Exhaust, a larger more aggressive c.f. rear wing, a c.f. Diffuser, etc.. they are all only a few clicks away- we won't discuss pricing, it is what it is, but lots of us will (and do) pay that premium to have OEM. All Hyundai would need is a site, ie. wwwhyundaiNperformancepartsusa.com, (not real, don't click, copy/paste etc.) and an employee or two w/ a medium to large storage unit. I would think this would be profitable for the company, + labor for the authorized dealerships to install the parts, not to mention us, the consumers. Win-Win-Win/ I could then (hopefully) get those larger paddle shifters for my (the wifes) new DCT Veloster N.

@nurzrachit71333 жыл бұрын
I bought a 19' and the DCT was not available. I tried to get my wife to drive it some so we could share the vehicle so to speak, but she freaking hates it. Personally I think it's a great car and I can pretty much leave anything in the dust, even cars with double the HP on the street. Anyway, I don't think my wife would like it even if it had a DCT, so I'm sticking with the manual and she can just drive the SUV and miss out on the fun. I know geebs says DCT but he's getting soft and so are any of the other guys who say that too. If there is ever a choice between manual and automatic, you always get a manual. There's a reason that all sports cars start in manual. It brings a level of connection to the car you can never achieve if you opt for the auto. I don't give a rats rectum if they say the DCT has a faster 0-60 time....and? What's your point? Did you buy a Veloster N to drag race? I can think of about 15 cars that you should have gone with first if that is why you bought it. This car is quick as greased lightning in the twisties and it has ample power to leave some heavy hitters if you learn how to drive it, and getting it to do it's best work for you involves throwing the manual leash around it's neck and wringing it for all it's worth. Some people buy fast cars like this so they can say they have one, some people buy them to drive the dogshit out of them and you just have to figure out which one you are.

Love it man! I’ve been looking for a black one all around here and can’t find one. The factory exhaust on those sounds the best of any vehicles in it’s class!

I’m really tempted to switch from my civic to one of these
@SaintLaurent92693 жыл бұрын
@triippyyy I drove a Honda civic for 13 years. The honda dealers tried to down play the Veloster N when I told them I was thinking about Buying one. I test drove a Hyundai Veloster N and it is waaaay better than the Civic. I ended up Buying the “N” ….it’s a beast too 🦍

First mod should be a 2020 6MT rear muffler because it is slightly smaller allowing for me DCT farts

So many great reviews on this car in more ways than one (even better than GTi etc). Imagine this car in ~2000 when the Fast & Furious came out. Lolol
