@justanoman64977 күн бұрын
Based on the things she said, it seems that they just took equity out of their real estate on the exchange--their old house had a good deal of equity, they took that out and got a bigger house with a bigger loan (mentioned increased mortgage). That's not "blessed", that in itself is potentially financially irresponsible. It is essentially a HELOC (as additional mortgage). I mean mortage should have lower interest rate than most other loans that were paid off, so in theory that could be a mathematically correct move. But given the unresolved underlying spending behavior, the feeling of "have money" and "no debt" is dangrous and could simply lead to more spending. This is the reason why debt consolidation often don't work out despite it being superior mathematically.

@stinks70657 күн бұрын
@@MoncheriRous I think it's interesting cause girls definitely get raised to be very responsible from an early age, we're expected to be mature and rational even when we're still little children, and we have a lot of responsibility pushed onto us at a very young age. So to connect girlhood with being irresponsible and stupid is strange, I don't think very many of us were ALLOWED to be irresponsible and stupid as children. Maybe that's a driving factor here as well -- now that these women are no longer under their parents' control, they want to go a little brainless and be irresponsible for a while since it's not something they were allowed to be earlier in life. Except now you have big girl consequences that can ruin your life, instead of getting detention at school or being put on house arrest for a few days.

Wut? Who told you this? I’m afraid I’m gonna need some sauce for this. Congress _PASSED A LAW_ (equal credit opportunity act) in 1974, but before that, if women were widows, husband doing time, single mom for whatever reason, what do you think they did? Of course there were Neanderthals that worked in finance that didn’t think women _should_ be doing their own finances, but by and large that was the exception and not the rule. And there were actually laws on the books before ECOA, but no real way to enforce them; that’s what the verbiage did, allowed charges to be brought. I’m not sure how this wildly untrue rumor got its start, but I literally see this at least once a day. I know for a fact that it’s incredibly wrong because my grandma was doing her books for the farm since 1955 (which she owned outright after my grandfather’s early demise) and she successfully managed them until her own death in 1989. This included checking, savings, several lines of credit, and when they began coming around, a few emergency credit cards.

I paused and just had to take a moment to laugh about the similarity to your question yesterday. Like this teenager killed someone & pulls the “but I’m just a giiirrrrllll.” Straight up unaccountability is EVERYWHERE!! The show is based on a true story so I’m sure that part was dramatized but it doesn’t mean we don’t have lunatics out here who don’t act think that.

No, I can see why you said it! I do think that a lot of times we as women get passes for things based on our gender, and I won't deny that, but overall excusing bad behavior just because you are a woman is dangerous. Just like what you said about the show, Life will show you what he really is! Sometimes that statement is not gonna be enough!

I needed change for $100 bill that I got from an atm next to Sephora aha they told me that I had to buy something 🙄 I was annoyed and got the cheapest thing which was some makeup remover wires for $4. I do not need makeup remover wipes and am seriously considering returning them and getting my $4 back after this video😂 I’m mad at myself for not thinking of returning them immediately after I got the change yesterday 🤦🏾♀️ $4 could buy some noodles, avocados, tomatoes, a load of bread- something I could actually use.

I will tell you they legitimately probably couldn’t do it because most registers now program lock it unless it’s for a cash sale. I worked for Victoria Secret for years on the side, and it’s only in the last two that they’ve added locks on the No Sale function for opening the drawer. It requires a managerial override in most cases, and if one isn’t available, you’re stuck. It’s an anti-theft mechanism that causes more problems than it fixes.

Neither my boyfriend and I WANT to work. I think most people would prefer a life of luxury to a life of responsibility, but that’s not reality! I’d love to spend my day snuggling with my dogs and watching KZbin, but we have bills to pay - and it wouldn’t be fair for me to expect him to work his ass off to support that lifestyle for me and not for himself! But we own our home, we own our cars outright, and we are both student debt free. So while maybe we don’t luxuriate in designer bags and international vacations on the regular, we are taking care of our sh*t and preparing for a future of stability. I think THAT is what I deserve to do for myself as “just a girl.”

I see trends like this and I think about how to this day if a woman wants to have a hysterectomy,she needs a man to sign on for the doctor to proceed in a lot of states. How women are still being over worked and underpaid. How long and hard the suffragettes had to fight for us to have the right to vote. Every time I think we have made significant progress in society, things like this start up and I realize this, this is the EXACT reason why we are not progressing. Sighhh🤦🏾♀️

I wonder how much of this comes from the ‘born sexy yesterday’ ‘ideal’ that a lot of girls grow up saturated with. When I grew up, twirling your hair and acting dumb in order to appear attractive (and doing it, because you were too young and ignorant to understand that it wouldn’t attract any kind of good attention) was simultaneously looked down upon *and* recognised as the most successful strategy to ‘get a boyfriend’ that none of us really wanted but felt keenly that we were supposed to have - and nobody wanted the last ‘picks’. These days, with the escalation and oneupmanship of social media, it seems only natural that the ‘act dumb to get x y or z’ outcome has turned into what we see today. It sucks for all of us.

I never call myself a girl, of any kind, or use the phrase "girl math" or "girl dinner". I am a WOMAN. I pay my bills, I handle my business. If you are over 18 and say "I'm just a girl", what you really mean is "I'm stupid, spoiled, selfish, and lazy." I'm glad you ended on the graduate student ... the practice of budgeting so that all of your expenses come out of one of your two monthly checks is very smart. Good for her.

Woman at 21:00 I think makes $150k a year, she makes too much to qualify for a Roth. $3400 per paycheck AFTER taxes is a crazy amount of money before taxes. We ware talking over $10k per month before taxes. She makes enough to max out her Roth for the year in 1 month. After that, she basically needs to open a post-tax investment account if she wants to continue to invest her money and save.

An 800k house isn’t a smart idea anyway if you can’t afford it if your spouse gets laid off. You should strive for a cheaper mortgage, not try to get the biggest thing possible to your future self’s detriment.
