The Iberian Pig - Livestock Genetics from Spain

The Iberian pig has certain racial characteristics that make it morphologically different from any other specimen of the porcine species and identify it as such, despite the existing diversity between individuals and varieties.
This racial grouping has its origin in the Mediterranean subspecies of the wild boar (sus scrofa mediterraneus) and is found in the central, southern and western areas of the Iberian Peninsula.
