That line is not in the book. It also technically isn't a Wattpad story or a fanfiction turned published book because she never actually posted it onto a fanfiction site... She just published it as an actual book. So it technically is not a fanfiction movie. But the book does have a little bit of fanfiction vibes and it's writing style. Not as much as red white and royal blue does but it is still there a little bit. But that doesn't make it a fanfiction. A fanfiction HAS to have been posted on one of the fanfiction sites and then once complete removed and all the names changed when it actually gets published. That didn't happen with this book.

it's not a wattpad story, it's based on an actual novel, and they actually changed alot of the dialogues in the movie, alot of the dialogues in the movie were not in the actual book. That "why would you break up with a talented kind feminist?" was only in the movie, not the book. They completely changed Izzy's character, in the book Izzy was only like 12-13 years old and still very much a fan of August Moon and was very much against her mother's relationship with Hayes. But in the movie they aged her up, made her 16 and not really into the band anymore but is alot more supportive of the couple's relationship in the movie.

I agree that this movie worked so well bc they hired talented actors to make the characters feel grounded. And the music being actually catchy helped a lot too. Anne talked about how they wanted to make it clear that she was an established older woman and her clothes, house, career, etc. reflected that. I saw someone complain about not believing that Anne could play a poor, unattractive woman which was a truly wild take. At what point in the movie did they ever try to convince us she was poor or unattractive? Have you watched Mary & George? It's really good and basically everyone in the show is queer. Nicholas is so good in it!

I mean it could be because this was not a fanfiction turned book turned movie... The book was clearly inspired by Harry Styles. But the author just jumped to straight up actually publishing it... It was never uploaded onto any fanfiction site and then removed once completed and changed all of the names before publishing... like how fanfiction publishing usually works.... This was just a published novel that has very slight fanfiction vibes in its writing that was written at the height of One Direction's fame... That was adapted into a movie. So yeah, it's technically not a fanfiction movie because the book was never a fanfiction in the first place. Lol But yeah, you must not read a lot of Fanfictions. Unfortunately the ones that have gotten adapted into movies do have really unhealthy relationship dynamics but there are PLENTY out there that have extremely healthy relationship dynamics. I mean red white and royal blue is kind of an example of that... While I don't think the author of red white and royal blue has actually posted any Fanfictions they've gone on the record saying they are a HUGE fan of fanfictions which is why the writing style in red white and royal blue has extreme fanfic vibes.

To be honest the spicy scenes in this book were actually pretty decent... The movie did not adapt a single one of the sex scenes that are in the book, unfortunately. I was hoping that we would get one or two maybe three if lucky but literally NONE of them got adapted. I've read some books with some pretty shitty sex scenes. But this book was kind of decent! There absolutely were some character building moments within the sex scenes which kind of makes for a good sex scene that isn't just sex for the sake of sex.

On the whole fan fiction writer becomes "real writer" thing. The rise of the internet has just made it more common for writers to publish early (bad) writing in the form of fan fiction. When I was 8 my ninja turtles fan fiction... which I later turned into original stories (by later I mean like 12-14 and they were NOT good) were only seen in notebooks I showed to my friends and my teen writings were happening in my high school english class and not published on the web. All writers start somewhere, these days we just have a long standing culture of fan fiction that often happens during the teeen and young adult stage. And like any form of early writing, there is the good and the bad and the 'in the middle' that will rise into original works. This hit the good side of that equation.

And yet fucking 50 shades is the one that made it into the mainstream...tragic. it's poorly written and poorly researched and has EXTREMELY bad BDSM etiquette in it... I am forever infuriated. 😡🤣

@@kgal1298 50 shades is an extreme example that got a lot of press. They literally used twilight’s popularity to sell 50 shades. A lot of young writers with books out now at least started out writing fan fiction and more than a few just weren’t recognized or as well known either because the writer hid it well enough in changes or the inspiration source was obscure and no one clocked it. But being ex-Wattpad fic actually sells titles now, even if its just to hate watch/view/read so people sell things on being re-adapted fan fiction.

Her pay scale for this was great she's like "I'll take 7M to even out the previous pay scales I've had" she's a producer and the larger name so I get it, but Nicholas got 400K for it and frankly he's being under paid Hollywood.
