This is the 4th installment of the Ideal Muslim/Muslimah series. During this discussion, Imam Shadeed Muhammad elaborated on the superficiality of beauty that has been accepted by many sisters today. He also highlighted the danger of brothers marrying women who don't meet their personal preferences in terms of beauty and begin to overcompensate for this through polygyny and sometimes infidelity. Please LISTEN and SHARE with others.

Truth! Keep teaching us Akhi! I know you said reputation is important but I've always felt that character is more important than reputation. This is because character is who Allah knows are while reputation is who people think you are. What Allah knows is always more important than what people think!

Rahil Akhdar why? What if you have multiples and you have extra skin just hanging there?
@rahilakhdar3647
@rahilakhdar3647 5 жыл бұрын
Hijabi Jones what do you mean by extra skin? Like when people lose a lot of weight and have extra skin? Breast may droop or become saggy so a woman would need to exercise because that's natural. Bodies change over time so you can't just get surgery because now you've got a "Mom" body. Allah made all of us beautiful no matter the changes. We can't even pluck our eyebrows or wear wigs because it's tricky so going further than that into cosmetic surgery is definitely haraam.
@jamilamarr9771
@jamilamarr9771 5 жыл бұрын
Reconstructive surgery for medical purposes is ok not for cosmetic purposes. So a breast reduction because you are having spinal issues is ok. But a breast lift because you want your breasts to be more perky is haram.

The way someone needs to receive what you say is important as well. What you are saying is true but don't miss the point that the way we wish to receive the truth needs to be without curse, toughness and a lack of sensitivity. We belong to Allah. Some may need you to speak respectfully if you want us to believe you are respectful in your heart. I trust your message, but the words are harsh for me to let my children listen. They may think it's okay to say these curse words. No matter if they are the lighter ones. I am 65 years old and I am ashamed to say those words in front of my mother and children. Representation of Islam would not contain this type of delivery. Keep up the good messages, but be careful of your passion and delivery. Keep your intent in doing this for Allah and you will not lose control this way. Please don't get upset about someone being offended of how you are representing. Take your own advise. Be careful and humble. Love you for the sake of Allah..Barakallahu fik. Fi imaan Allah

As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. Brother Shadeed, I hope you receive this message. I follow you on FB so I know you are quite busy preparing for Ramadan, Alhamdullah, but when you get a chance can you address what African American sisters, in particular, can do to beautify themselves? Our standards of beauty are based on European standards, which are usually haram, therefore, when we choose to abandon them, we are left with nothing. I've been Muslim for twenty years and I've been told that almost everything we use as black woman is haram... for example... gel and hair grease should be abandoned because they don't absorb water when making wudu... perms and coloring hair are a no due to the toxic chemicals they obtain, no nail polish because, it does not absorb water. Dredlocks are haram because they are resembling the disbelievers, short hair is haram because it is resembling men and so on. And on top of that, many of the hair styles we are accustomed to, are destroyed once the khimar is placed on the head and their are all of about 5 Muslim hair salons in the United States, only. I've discovered that us sisters are of three... the ones who just continue to do what is haram in regards to beautification out of frustration and show that publicly, the ones who secretly go to non Muslims to get their hair done, doing these acts of beautification in secret and those who just choose to look a hot mess. You are notorious for addressing topics, in depth, about our community that has yet to be addressed so I hope you'll consider this one.
