I think it would've been cool if we had the original series as a season 1 actually seeing what Joce went through w/ her mom and then season finale joce's mom dies and then we get the sam Levinson second season dark turn... I think it would've been a better show that way. Proper bubblegum pop in the first and then the dark pop star in the second

I think you are right and to take it a step further, if Jocelyn's mother never died and instead was the main antagonist throughout the whole show, sort of like a Logan Roy type of 'authoritarian narcissistic manipulator' type of character and their relationship was the lens through which we are exposed to all the various seedy elements of Hollywood, it would have been way better. It could have been better structured, better paced, there would have been more stuff actually happening in the show and we would have had a more thorough examination of Hollywood. The theme of sexual control that The Weeknd seemed to focus on has its place, but it didnt have to be nearly the only thing he touched on and so gratuitously handled.

It wasn't that bad lol there are tons of people who curate spaces for artists because they love art. That was Tedros. In terms of him being ruined because he got canceled, and lost all of the artists he managed...he's the victim. I also felt that Jocelyn didn't have any evidence against him, just jumped to conclusions.

in my honest opinion, the show was really good. Ppl didn't like it because it brought up aspects of themselves that they aren't comfortable with (the sex scenes that made ppl cringe and all that). Egos just projected their own insecurities onto the show and hated it. Jocelyn isn't the anti hero, its not about a good guy and bad guy, they were both manipulating each other and the show seemed to just want to tell a story of how manipulative the industry is. There is no hero or villain in real life because we are all capable of shitty things hence why after Tedros had his ego completely shuttered, he got a second chance in the end, and also showed how its not always the loudest in the room running the show. Sadly a lot of ppl aren't self aware enough to see this so they'll just shit and hate on what they can't make sense of. The show still succeeded though, it evoked real emotion in people😂
