Im happy you are covering this topic. It is so overlooked in the preparedness community. Im a retired Combat Medic, retired RTF Paramedic w/TECC, and a Stop the Bleed instructor in Florida. Those inserts, from modified saw pouch, are gold. Rescue Essentials is a fave for me.

Glad you found it. I encourage everyone to share it. One of the reason you don't see it as much is they don't get really good engagement which means they get dropped by the algorithm and creators don't make money on the video. I didn't get into this to make money but honestly it's nice when a video pays for itself. I do the medical I do because it's so important. Deep dive in depth on TQ drops tomorrow with a boatload of info

💯 it gets overlooked because people think I know how to do that. Medical isn't as sexy as me showing off pews and ammo but honestly there was more money in this video of med supplies than most people spend on a handgun. I always keep a medkit on me even in the ultra rare instance I don't have a gun( planes mostly) I still have a trauma kit

A good thing to write down in the top cover of your ifak is Start the breathing, stop the bleeding, protect the wound and treat for shock.just in case someone finds you incoherent and doest know first aid.
@unclefreedom213
@unclefreedom213 17 күн бұрын
I agree to have some stuff but bleeding is a priority you can bleed out in less than 30 seconds I can still keep you alive even a couple minutes without breathing

@loriekaczmarek9788 17 күн бұрын
@@unclefreedom213 oh I agree. This is how they taught us in the Marine Corps in the 80's. But the instructor did tell us the order breathing and bleeding depends if the persons bleeding out. Where that takes top priority. I learned this when I was 17. In my 60s now still remember it. Came in handy a number of times over the years.

But was raised on a farm, native American family my whole life was basically a self reliance living which is great for passing that info on. The Freedom Academy lol

I like your description of "seal the box, TQ limbs and pack junctions" that is so much easier than how I first learned this stuff. My opinion is the IFAK I have are different based on where I store them. Truck is right behind my head rest, I keep a metal "punch" tool that is spring loaded and its for putting marks into metal, stupid good at breaking windshields. System I go off of with wound packing is as soon as you start never touch your face until hands are washed, quick clot tie a quick overhand knot and shove that knot into that hole as far as I can and start taking short lengths and shoving them in, next is standard gauze to finish off packing and then extra gets cut off then Israeli personal bandage is on top. Situation dependent if I go "wow that's a lot of blood i need to stop that now" I am not putting on gloves. Chest seals, dont fear if you dont have one, square piece of plastic like off the quick clot tape three sides. No need for a chest decompression needle if you have chest seals. That needle I own is for me only, my training on them was long enough ago within my state I am not taking the legal risk. On my motorcycle I also carry a sam splint because wow motorcycles and broken bones happen. Nose hose- Shia Labeouf took one like a champ coughed a little bit and got a bloody nose from it, I consider a nose hose only needed if the tongue keeps falling into the back of the airway. There are better ways like a recovery position for this sort of thing or airway swell could require one as well. Huge thing is periodically look in your AFAK to refresh your memory on where things are at.
@unclefreedom213
@unclefreedom213 16 күн бұрын
Chest seals do not eliminate TPT though the vents almost always get clogged with clots, you can burp them. That's truly about the only option for most people.
@Ovokor
@Ovokor 16 күн бұрын
@@unclefreedom213 True it does not solve the problem but like you said, this is slow down the process, the needle decreases the pressure (remember to put your face right over it as you stick in the decompression needle for needle catching) but it does solve the problem of air getting in crushing the contents of the box.

Leave the box open!!!! I think we have discussed this before. Unless you are stating with the patient and are damn good at catching the tension pneumo. Leave it open. I don’t carry them. And I am a 27 year medic/ 20 year flight medic. We do not carry chest seals on the helicopter…. We do have gasoline gauze if needed. This is not only from me, but trauma surgeons. Thanks for the advice on the ARS needles! My Level 1 Trauma center found 60% of EMS placed needles were not in…….. Luckily I can do chest tubes!
@unclefreedom213

TacMed, TCCC and TECC sealing the box is what's recommended. You're talking about first response trauma care not ALS care. I agree about TPT but it was found that it saved more lives than it took during GWOT.
