A lot of you youths don’t realize how humiliating a death this was back in the day. Everyone assumed the patients were secretly gay or secretly a junkie. In macho culture it was the worst way to die. Now thank your elders for evolving and continue to do so for your future youths and for when you are the old ones
@seanwebb6055 жыл бұрын
So many of the early celebrities who died of AIDS denied being gay or being infected. After Rock Hudson everyone was suspicious. That humiliation and shame extended to family and friends. You could expect them to be ostracized after you died. Ronald Reagan pretended that he didn't know Rock Hudson after his diagnosis.

If you were receiving chemotherapy your immune system might be suppressed and you might develop viral forms of pneumonia. If you were of a specific ethnic group an considerably older then you might show these forms of cancers. Other opportunistic infections were usually easily fought off by the immune system. There wasn't a consensus on what the disease should be called. Since it was first identified in gay men GRID or Gay cancer was used in the community. Even HIV required sort of a meeting of the minds because both the French and Americans who isolated and identified the virus were calling it something different.

Eazy-E's family, friends and artist begged him to go get checked out because he seemed sick Tupac said before he went to Las Vegas, that if "I go to vegas, Im a dead man"....He still went Biggie was getting a lot of death threats (warnings) that he needs to leave the west coast, but he ignored the threats and stayed..... this is my opinion but it seems like they didn't care about the outcomes of their situations that led to their demise...
