In our culture, we've ingrained a mindset of perpetual preparation for the future, a constant anticipation of something better lying ahead. This profound meditation, featuring the wisdom of Alan Watts, explores the fallacy of this approach. From childhood, we're conditioned to view life as a series of preparations, always reaching for the next milestone. This video challenges you to reconsider this cultural narrative, prompting reflection on the importance of living in the present. Join us on a journey towards breaking free from the illusion of constant preparation and embracing the beauty of the here and now.

Definitely that piano is way too loud, but yes, living in the very moment is the beautiful and very fulfilling way to go. Unfortunately it takes many of us forever to figure it out. I love my life in the moment. Pure joy and the absence of problems is hard to beat 😊

Trust the process 🙌🏽 you can develop your mind to super conciousness. Let go, dont control, integrate yourself into life and let life guide you. Plants and animals dont question guidance from nature. This goes also for a Human. We are a integral part of the nature like bees and trees, its just our mind, that is restless because of separation and comparing. You are not the person in your thoughts, its an image. You are infinite and eternal. Be grateful for so many "normal" things and the Universe will attract more of it, because you gonna be in a mental state of abundance, joy and creativity. Dont worry about not having a good, its temporary and cyclic like the seasons. Enjoy 2024🎉 its gonna be great

In the tapestry of time, where illusions weave, Alan Watts' wisdom, a guide to retrieve. The Illusion of Tomorrow, a cultural spin, A meditation profound, where reflections begin. From childhood's gaze, to the adult's quest, Perpetual preparations, a cultural zest. Anticipation of better, a constant thread, Watts challenges the narrative, in words widespread. Life as preparation, a fallacy untold, A journey towards milestones, as the stories unfold. Alan's voice, a whisper, breaking free, From the illusion of tomorrow, a call to be. The beauty of now, in the present's embrace, Manifested wellness, a timeless grace. No more chasing shadows, no more borrowed sorrow, Watts' guide to living fully, in the present, tomorrow. Cultural conditioning, unraveling threads, Watts' meditation, where the narrative sheds. Reflections on living, breaking free from the bind, A journey towards wholeness, in the heart and mind. Join the chorus of moments, where echoes sing, The Illusion of Tomorrow, a cultural swing. Manifested wellness, in the now's gentle flow, Alan Watts' guide, a wisdom to know. In the realm of presence, where serenity lies, The beauty of living, under timeless skies. No more illusions, no more borrowed sorrow, Alan Watts' guide to living fully now, tomorrow.

Watts was so insightful. We worry about tomorrow, but tomorrow is today. The present is all there every is and all there will ever be. The book called 30 Days to Reduce Stress by Harper Daniels helped me with mindfulness exercises to calm down.

Loved the message, read the comments, music didn’t distract me. I’m 60, have lived in the moment so to speak, career, marriage, kids, death of a spouse, death of a business, rebuild, etc. no nest egg. Scares me a little, but would not trade in my life’s experiences for a nest egg full of nothing.

What a really terrific series this would be without that intrusive 'background' music, which is actually foreground and makes listening akin to straining to hear a radio that's receiving two transmitters at once. That said - the content of every talk has been thought-provoking, instructive, clear and refreshingly commonsensical. Thank you.

We just enjoy the act of being aware, being alive has to be enough. We need nothing and want nothing from the world- the tasks of taking care of the body are just supporting this consciousness. We are already and always complete and whole. Any notion otherwise, someone or something gave us as mental poison. If someone said this explicitly, they would sound completely insane: "You can't be happy until you are a doctor, lawyer, indian chief, astronaut, millionaire, gold medalist, rock star, professor....." Really? I can't be happy just to be alive and aware? Instead it's "What do you want to be when you grow up?" A seemingly innocuous question, but is actually judgmental, status-focused, and poisonous. I might sound equally insane to them if I say: "I want to be enlightened when I grow up. I want to reach Buddhahood." If I am in certain parts of China, Tibet, most of India, it does not sound crazy to say this. It's daily normal conversation. We can and do still struggle in the world, but those tasks don't hurt us, we have some detachment from them and maintaining the body or a job is just necessary duty...you reduce the emotional charge of experience by being free of desire. Plus, whatever we can want is very subject to change and starting immediately...Everything comes and goes quickly. I have this picture of me holding my friend's baby daughter at my wedding- she's now about 19. I am a very different person now, but I still have that person I was as memory..but even that is fading rapidly. That is the way life is.

Nice video but it is a shame that the background music is so loud. Some video creators must seriously think about what they want to share: a video content (e.g. an inspiring talk) or just background music?

The conditioning is successful when the child internalizes a need for achievement and the status that comes with it. What happens is that we are always encouraged to pursue the next larger goal and "win". We don't enjoy the goals we have reached, or the plans we have realized because we have already set our sights on the next one. Without being in the present, or even being in the present slightly, there is only the briefest acknowledgement of any goal reached before it's on to the next. When do we get there? What is the ultimate "there"? At this point in my journey it seems to me that the answer is exactly the opposite of what we have been conditioned to. If I look at the concept of enlightenment and really work on it for a few decades, I end up circling back to the Buddha's original sermon. If I try to get a firm grasp on what an enlightened person looks like- they are completely in the present and are just bare, pure awareness. I see it now as a sort of "mental nudity". No desire. No goals. No past, no future and no fear. Other religious thought-systems also have this as the main goal- enlightenment is the ultimate goal, there is nothing greater....So Alexander had no need to weep, although he ruled the world, he was not enlightened yet.

Spiritual ideas may help you feel better; however, listening or reading spiritual material will help you momentarily; unfortunately, you will go back to old patterns of behavior that keeps you in a passive comfortable state of being. You must be involved in a serious study and work group to change your basic character, from an ego mindset to an awakened intelligent spiritual being.

Hey not sure if you’d respond this might be a little long but I’m hoping you could drop a gem on me. Ive had an existential crisis since January 4th of this year (6 days before my 18th birthday) and I’ve always been spiritual before that but when I came across the fact that someday I will have to die and abandon my loved ones my belief system shattered. I’ve turned more towards religion because of these circumstances but it isn’t doing it for me I guess you can say it’s helping but nothing will help without acceptance and I know that’s my struggle right now. My question is can you come to these existential questions, become aware, and still be spiritual ? What do you believe happens when we pass do our souls really go into astral plane ?

@@uzisbaked i dont take life too seriously, i am here to level up mentally and take care of my health (Soul, mind and body). The physical Body will die but Life itself is eternal and so is the Soul. You was there before you entered the physical, you are here right now and you will be there after the human life experience. What you take with you, are all the lessons that you have learned about your inner world and how you interact with the external. All material goods are just Accessoires. Money, social status and statussymbols is just a game. You can enjoy these Accessoires but dont get attached to it, because this will cause suffering. Try out some near death experience interviews to get more Point of Views on Life and what a grateful Gift it is to be a representer of the eternal lifeforce. Be water, my friend - Bruce Lee
