Even while majoring philosophy I heard his name uttered only once in college by a professor. Only because I asked him if he'd ever heard of him and he remembered his radio specials back in the day.

@@AE0N777 In my reality, Ram Dass, Eckhart Tolle, Watts, and SO many others are saying the same thing with different words. Where I find many of us get confused is we think there is a difference between physical reality and this line of thinking. For what I know, there isn't. These teachers help us 'open our eyes' to understand that our perceptions create reality. How little time is spent in the moment and in false realities made up of the past or potential futures. A good example is this: Two people walk into a dark room. One is frightened of the dark - wonders what might be hiding and could strike them at any moment. The other is comforted, feeling like they are protected from external factors. Who is right? Both of them. They both experience the same dark room in completely different ways. Both of these are realities. The difference is what they think they are experiencing. Anyway, sorry for the long comment and thanks for taking the time to read it. ;)

Just a random thought... we always think the day we die is going to be "in the future." We forget that the day we die will be today, it just hasn't happened yet.
@Max-ro7sz3 жыл бұрын
But we don't know what will happen when that day comes. We cannot know until it is there. Therefore, is it useless to think about it until that exact day. By thinking about it now, you are ignoring everything that is by your side now.

November 19th, 2023 Last time I wrote in here I was 22, 25 now. 3 years have gone by.. Life continues to be a confusing but beautiful endeavor .. I’ve felt lost, feel lost right now.. as I’m returning to this video.. Lived 2 years in San Francisco since last write in.. 3 year relationship just ended.. making major life changes and feeling lost .. Needing a reminder that it’s all okay.. moving South in 2 weeks to a new apartment, chasing new chances, new motives Crazy how much different of a human I am even 1,2 or 3 years later.. Same but different .. Have realized chasing happiness is the wrong route.. Inner peace and acceptance are the way through.. Enjoy what is .. Be okay with who you are and what you have .. more or less isn’t better or worse.. I have everything I need & forget this at times.. It begins within My parents have gotten older and that frightens me a lot .. don’t want to live without them here .. learning to accept that change is the only constant Random thoughts.. Much love Mr Watts for helping me re center

Today is 3rd march, I have an exam two days from now and was feeling anxious about it and googled about the power of being present. I fell sick today, was having a tough day but dis video brings a lot of calm. It’s a nice moment, the sun is shining bright outside and I had a cup of tea in my hand while watching it. Feeling grateful for all that I really have. 5:43 pm.

Astounding: Alan says: The past is the result of the present. Everything proceeds from the present (even the past.) "Alan, you are wonderful, and thanks."

Just want to mention: This is one of the most profound lectures. In Alan we see a wonderful aptitude (gifted person.) The gift is given to us in this lecture. Alan confessed his wisdom. And we all get to hear.

5/01/2021 Today I find myself back at this video - needing a reminder to be present - did some surfing in the morning, 3 hour session... it was fun, a good time, but later I felt very unproductive. I struggle with productivity sometimes - not feeling like I accomplish enough in each day. It’s strange. Even when I have days where I hit all my to do’s, it just resets the next day - I find myself needing this video at times. Feeling better after listening. Much Love HB, California 6:07 PM

July 30, 2020 Today I feel present - very interesting, I feel mixed emotions of sadness & fulfillment, joy from the present but also anxiety about the future.. Did yoga in the park at 6am, work later at 2:00. Life is a beautiful complex trip.. I feel we are all special. 22 years old, 8:59 A.M.

11/20/2021 Stumbled upon this video again, saw old entries - completely forgot about writing them.. Feeling pretty good lately, shaky at times, working on settling into my new digs. Moved to California, Dad is visiting right now with his girlfriend - thought a lot about how those we love are not with us forever during dinner. When becoming present to the moment and truly embracing the fact that time with loved ones is special and important, I felt a lot of euphoria and an over grateful attitude. Today was a good day. Its 10:31 PM now, and we'll be exploring together tomorrow before they fly back home. Last entry was 5 months ago - its amazing how much I've changed, but also stayed the same since then. Different thought patterns and unique ideas. Last entry was in Huntington Beach, sending this one from new apartment, San Francisco. God bless and hopefully I'll write again in a few months if I remember. SF, California 10:33 PM

There is only this moment . it is impossible to escape from this moment but through denial we can convince oneself that we have done so . Here is a little intellectual exercise i came up with about 35 years ago while giving a lecture on consciousness as source , or what ever that means . 😂 ok, think of something you did yesterday . now ask yourself " when am i thinking this thought about yesterday " Now do the same for a potential Future event , say a dinner date in a few days . Again ask your self ," when am i making these dinner plans" ? The answer is always NOW . Wait five minutes or a day or five years and repeat the exercise , the answer will always be NOW. the exercise doesnt produce the full realization of NOW as consciousness awake to itself but it does give us an intellectual understanding that it is impossible to escape this moment and all other moments which are all the same moment . it also brings into question the validly of the past and future . do they really exist if they can only be experienced NOW.

Living in the PRESENT is not just enough, we got to understand our true nature and this same nature has evil in it, we should never forget we come from this animal evolutionary thing and stop believing we humans are totally evolved, we can see how our world is right now and we shouldn't blame politicians because we couldn't establish a better system so far, we've got to change ourselves too, there's no other way.

I am noticing a gap in Alan's lectures, not a whole lot about poverty and war. When I click on something with those subject it barely talks about the why. In one lecture Alan says poverty is due to the rich not having imagination. This confuses me. Please point me to some solid videos about poverty and war of you can.
