Players receive 130 minutes for the entire game, with a 30-second delay from move 1. A tie for first place will be decided in a 2-game rapid mini-match (10 min + 5 sec delay), in case of just two tied players, and if necessary an Armageddon game (5 vs. 4) on 29 August at 13:00 local time. Joon, this reminds me of the scene in Spaceballs where there is a video rental machine that has a complete video of the movie. The movie characters start watching themselves in real time, but they can also rewind the tape to see past action, or fast forward to see future action. The video machine is named Mr. Video, which is a play on the instant coffee brewer Mr. Coffee.

@johnwamsley1896 4 жыл бұрын
Time travel is not like that. It requires lots of mass or energy, like our sun or our galaxy. And we aint going no place except into the black hole that ate up our galaxy a long, long time ago. Don't worry though, you can watch the whole thing as space observers are already beginning to see waves out there as another galaxy collides with ours. But that was also a long, long time ago.

@@joonpak lol understandable, but even the smallest and seemingly inconsequential actions can have monumental changes onto the future. The Butterfly Effect. You cannot predict an equation's outcome if you don't know all the variables and how they work. Even if you go back in time and make no changes to personal life decisions or other non money decisions, your life and the world around you could be completely different. Or you could make drastic changes related to everything about your life and your future (your present now) would be still the very same. Kaliyuga is mean like that.

"If you don't take risks, you don't drink champagne" is actually a well-known Russian (or Soviet) saying. Same as "Pulling a hippo from a swamp", that Agadmator mentioned in one of the Tal videos. Though I thought it came from the war with Napoleon, which would be pretty much natural, it is really considered to come from Formula 1 races. And here's how the story goes, or so they say. In 1930s there was a race in Reims, located in Champagne province. Count Frederic Chandon presented a bottle to the winner of French Formula 1 Grand Prix. The organizers liked the idea and so it became a tradition. Though those times they didn't spray it out still until 1967 Le Mans series by Dan Gurney upgraded the celebration. You never know where Agadmator video may lead you to.

After f3 Bxf3 white can avoid an imminent checkmate by playing Bg1, blocking the first rank, albeit at a cost of heavy material losses. The game can then continue with Rc2+ Bf2 Rxf2+ Kg1 Rg2+, and black wins at least a piece when the dust clears and still has a vicious attack on exposed white king.

I think You forget another beautiful line in the end position.Qb8+ Kg7 F3 Bxf3 Bg1 Rc2+ Bf2 Rxf2+ Kg1 and Bxg3 where magnus have a queen and two pawns and ding have four pawns two bishops a knight and a rook also a losing position but he keeps the queen and he not yet checkmated

Congrats to Ding, these 2 final games were breathtaking. I can't remember the last time the final was this nailbiting in modern times. Could this be the Blitz of the decade?

8:57 -- Even though Magnus might seem not too bad off with a rook versus a bishop and two pawns here, the engine smells something rotten, and is granting Black a dominating -3.5 after only moderate depth analysis. (Ding's best follow-up is actually not to trade his queen for Magnus' two rooks, but to, after Rc1, play Bc6. But, as is stated, he only needs a draw, so clearing all the pieces off the board immediately is the best strategy.)

Of course this game was important since it determined the tournament but for me the most exciting game of the match was the penultimate blitz drawn game where each player was down beneath 10 seconds time. Just amazing to watch live.

An absolutely exciting game, as I watched it live & was cheering for Ding. Not that I don't like Magnus, but because I like cheering for the underdog....especially when he has the lead. However, is this game worth of 'immortal". Ding threw away his 3.75 lead when he didn't play 35.Bc6 & the game is 0.00 after 37....Bc6. It is only because Carlsen had to have a win, that he ended up giving the advantage back to Ding when he went for broke with 39.Qxd6 giving Ding a won game. I, of course, had no idea at the time, so I was on the edge of my seat cheering him on & Ding deserves accolades for his outstanding play in the tie-break!

Darn dude I went to check the live video, those engine lines that are Ba8 was played almost instantly. The combination that leaded to Ne7 was played in about 5 second. Even Carlsen smiled at end of the game, not expecting none of these to plays. Ding only deserve to win after this!!
