I Amazed the doctors and recovered 100%. They told my wife, "If I make it through surgery", I would probably be blind, because it leaked where my optic nerves crosssed. The first E-room doc rejected me saying it was too big and too far in, but she knew an excellent neurosurgeon at UCLA. Dr Neil Martin is an outstanding brain surgeon. I was in ICU for two weeks, and a couple of months later I was fine. I give myself a 10.

I was in the same situation, it took 36 hours from start of the SAH to the hospital. The surgeon said my inner cranial pressure was so high that he thought the best outcome would be me living out my days dependant both mentally and physically.

An undiagnosed brain aneurysm ruptured while I was eight weeks pregnant. There was pressure on my brain. A craniotomy was done. Doctors gave my family little hope that I would survive. I had to learn to talk, walk, everything again. My baby & I survived and I am thankful for each day.

I had the same kind of stroke this past March...its a long long road to recovery but I'm working hard. It's the hardest thing I've ever had to overcome but I'm doing it. Bless everyone who has had this and especially their caretakers...my family stayed 24/7 and never let my sat go below 90.

My mom had a 4cm hemorrhagic stroke. 2 weeks went by and she showed no signs of recovery. It was located deep near the thalamus. We decided to remove the ventalitor and she passed within a couple of minutes. No warning or anything and in the blink of an eye my mom is gone. They said the bleed was too deep to do anything, so all they did was put in a drain for the hydrocephalus. She was 72 years old, so I think her body was just not strong enough to recover.

There is a woman whom I love ,and she is recovering from a brain aneurism .It was only 3mm across and she didn`t have to have a shunt -but did have a lumbar puncture. She has suffered no brain damage That was about a month ago . She still gets headaches nearly everyday and has to have codeine for the headaches .She is still quite weak from being bedridden for those weeks .In your recovery, did you experience these headaches for the 2 mths it took you to recover ?

It’s been 2-1/2 years later for me, I feel that I’m getting worse. My short term memory is better, but I do have difficulty finding words in the middle of sentences. I’ve noticed that my emotions and anger seem to be getting worse, I just snap, I don’t remember everything I say or so. This past week I asked my 3 adult children to be a part of my recovery at this point, I wanted them to learn the new me along with me. They’ve given up on me, my son who majored in physiology believes I’m making this all up, stop lying to your doctors and yourself. It’s now that I feel like giving up, Im running out of strength. I was searching the internet trying to find out where I can go to get some counseling, he told me I spent to much time on the internet. My daughter wrote me a goodbye letter today, it was awful, just awful. Now what, where can I go?

The strange thing was I never had a headache before, during, or after. The 'during' period, I think I can attribute to Morphine. After the surgery,(I had the clip installed) it was hard to open my mouth very wide because of the muscle they had to cut to get to my skull.

My 9mm aneurysm never ruptured (THANK GOD!) But I had the same repair surgery to clip it and was so unprepared for the issue with my jaw! Eating again was so painful! I did have a headache tho, that's how they finally found it, major headaches that would only go away with medical intervention so they finally did a CT (it was a very small hospital without an MRI/MRA machine,) at which time it looked like I had 2 aneurysms so was transferred to the nearest major hospital which was U of M. When I got to the U of M they said "we'll have our surgery dept. get a hold of you." 😮 Fast forward 10 years and I'm here to tell the story! ❤ Dr. Thompson was and is an amazing surgeon who I owe my life to. 🙂
